San Diego House Rabbit Society, Inc San Diego House Rabbit Society, created in 1992, is a nonprofit animal welfare org SDHRS is a non-profit charity organization.

Each year, SDHRS rescues hundreds of rabbits, many in need of medical care which is often life-saving. Our donation will help defray their medical bills, which can exceed $95,000 per year.

Yesterday morning, we welcomed a mama rabbit and her days-old baby from a heartbreaking situation in San Diego.

Mama was living outdoors in a cramped chicken coop, surrounded by other rabbits fighting to survive. Tragically, this tiny baby is the only survivor of her entire litter.

The baby’s eyes aren’t even open yet. While they are nursing, we’re supplementing with around-the-clock hand-feedings to give this little one the best fighting chance.

Mama is terrified—it feels like she’s never experienced human kindness before. Because she’s so protective, we are taking things incredibly slow to earn her trust and keep them both safe.
