We are sad to inform everyone that on Saturday April 12th Mia crossed over the rainbow 🌈 bridge at the righteous old age of 19 years. She bought us so much love and happiness over the years and will be missed dearly.

Trick or Treat!!! Halloween is a time for goodies. Caramel apples, pumpkin donuts, chocolates, and candy corn make for a delicious holiday. It is well known that chocolate can be toxic for our furry friends, but sugary candy can also pose risks for toxicity. Too much sugar can cause stomach upset, excessive thirst, and in severe cases electrolyte changes. If your concerned about a tasty treat your pet has consumed, please reach out to your local DVM or the ASPCA animal poison control for further help.

It’s important to remember that one male cat on the prowl can make a significant impact on the number of stray kittens there are on the streets. If you have a cat that spends part of his time outside, you may want to consider neutering as a way to control the pet population.

Taking the cat to the vet can be just as hard on their owners as it is on the patient. To smooth things along, try to get the cat used to the carrier way before any vet trip. Bringing favorite treats and talking calmly can help soothe a nervous traveler, too.

Cats get minor colds and illnesses just like their owners. But if your cat has a runny nose and symptoms including crusty eyes and coughing or sneezing, closely monitor your pet. If the situation becomes worse, or stretches longer than 5 to 7 days, it’s time to make an appointment with the veterinarian.

One of the best things that you can do for your pet is to take them to see a veterinarian on an annual basis. In fact, regular wellness exams are vital to preventing diseases and staving any serious illness before it has a chance to get worse.

Were you aware that chewing can help your cat’s tooth health? Gnawing on some type of toy or even specially formulated food can help floss his or her teeth, massage his or her gums, and scrape away soft tartar.

Diabetes in dogs is on the rise. Type 1 is far more common in dogs than type 2. Reducing obesity in an over weight dog may help lower the risk of this condition developing.
