Duties include receiving and admitting patients, prepping for surgery, monitoring anesthesia, discharging patients, care of surgical and hospitalized patients, general clean up of surgical instruments, wrapping surgical packs, autoclaving and general hospital maintenance. Maturity, reliability, willingness to learn, and positive attitude are a must.

Part-time and full-time positions are available.

This 1 year old axolotl came to us after a month of constipation. Radiographs revealed a blockage in her digestive tract that wasn’t going to resolve on its own.

Our veterinary team performed surgery to remove the obstructed portion of the gastrointestinal tract. After removing the affected section, the stomach and duodenum we connected using an anastomosis— a procedure that creates a new connection between segments of the digestive tract so food can pass through normally again.

Throughout the procedure, our veterinary technicians carefully maintained hydration and monitored this tiny patient every step of the way!

The best part? A few weeks later, her owners updated us that she was doing well and recovering nicely after surgery. 💜

ReptiCon was a fun time! There were so many interesting booths and a huge array of reptiles, amphibians, birds, and mammals like prairie dogs, degu, micro-squirrels, guinea pigs, rats and mice, and even a Bengal kitten! There was an abundance of arts, crafts, jewelry, and other products for sale as well. If you missed it, join us at the next one September 26th and 27th and get your holiday shopping started!

❤️‍🩹🐀 This sweet 2.5 year old rat presented for a large mammary mass. Unfortunately, she has been dealing with this for quite a long time. This type of tumor is very common in rats. They start small until they grow rapidly.

We discussed the high risk of surgical removal, however it was that or end of life care as this was significantly impacting her quality of life. After a week of medications, the owner came back as the mass continued to grow. She decided to proceed with surgical removal.

Our experienced team was able to remove the tumor with an uneventful surgery. Her tumor was her twin - they each weighed 270g after the procedure! She was walking around with double her body weight. 😮 She was given postoperative hormone suppression and will stay on a course of pain medication and antibiotics.

She is an older lady, but her owner was willing to give her a chance of some better days in her golden age and it paid off… even a little more time is better than none at all. 🌼🌻🌞🌈
