Feline Leukemia Day
Feline leukemia virus is a virus that infects cats and can cause a variety of diseases including leukemia. The virus spreads through the cat population via direct contact between cats. Not all cats exposed to this virus will develop persistent infections however if they do, they cat continually shed the virus in their saliva exposing and potentially infecting other cats. We can diagnosed a Feline Leukemia Virus infection with a simple bench top blood test. Vaccines are available to help protect cats from Feline Leukemia Virus infections and are recommended for adults cats that go outside.
