K-Kaia and Toshi-Tosh

🐾Meet Bean!🐶🩵

Nothing brightens our day quite like a happy tail wag in the clinic! Bean stopped by for a visit and made himself right at home with one our toys. Safe to say he stole a few hearts while he was here. 🧸✨

We love seeing pets feel comfortable, playful, and stress-free during their visits. Great job, Bean! 💕

Parasite Prevention for Indoor Cats🐱

Even cats who never go outside can still be exposed to ticks and internal parasites more often than many owners realize!

🐜Ticks can hitch a ride indoors on:
- Dogs
- Clothing
- Shoes
- Outdoor gear

🐛Intestinal parasites can be brough in through:
- Soil tracked inside
- Rodents or insects
- Raw food diets
- Shared environments with other pets

Routine parasite control can help protect your indoor cat's health! If we have seen your kitty in the last year, give us a call to get them started on protection! (If not, we'll help get you booked for an exam first.)🥰

🥰Meet our Pets Monday🥰

Every Monday, we'll be sharing one of our staff members' companion animals and giving you a peek into their personality and life at home. This week we're excited to spotlight one of Ashley's goats, Nigel William Van Goat the Third. Nigel is a 1.5 year old, Nigerian Dwarf goat!🐐

1️⃣How long have you had your pet and where did you get them from?
Ashley has owned Nigel for over a year. He came to her as a bottle baby when his mom stopped looking after him at a few weeks old.

2️⃣What is their funniest or weirdest habit?
"Nigel can escape any enclosure he is placed in with his parkour skills, determination, and lack of thoughts for potential repercussions. He loves to fling things with his mouth especially if it is something his humans are trying to use. And, he is a dog in a goat body which includes him patrolling the yard and protecting the farm."

3️⃣If they had a job, what would it be?
"He has a job already. He takes his position as a comic relief on the farm very seriously. You need a laugh; he will appear and put a bucket on his head just to walk around until you laugh so hard you cry. If that doesn't do it, he will show off his parkour and give a tail wag. If all else fails, he will assist the dogs on their patrols because everyone needs goat back up."

4️⃣What are their nicknames?
Nigel, Nige, Criminal, Menace to Society NIIGGEEL (with a big sigh of disappointment from his antics).

5️⃣What's one preventative care step you never skip for your pet?
"His access to grains is limited to prevent health complications. He receives hay, minerals, and grazes. He receives vaccines, regular hoof trims, and monitoring for parasites to treat as needed. Nigel is provided with goat enrichment and dog toys so he can either be a goat or a dog depending on his desires whether that is playing on a teeter-totter, tossing a dog toy, or jumping in my car and going for a ride, he is always entertained."

🐾 Hip hip hooray for FHO day! 🦴✨

Our doctors are hard at work to help fix this kitty's sore hip.

A Femoral Head Ostectomy (FHO) is a surgery where the “ball” part of the hip joint is removed to eliminate painful bone-on-bone contact. Over time, pets form a “false joint” made of scar tissue that allows comfortable movement again!

FHO is commonly recommended for hip dysplasia, fractures, or arthritis — especially in small to medium dogs and cats. 🐶🐱 Recovery includes rest, pain control, and lots of rehab exercises to get those legs moving again.

Here’s to healing, happy steps, and comeback zoomies! 🚀🐾

Road conditions are poor throughout the city. Crews are actively repairing potholes, which is causing significant traffic delays, especially in our area. Please allow yourself some extra travel time to make it to your appointment on time.

Thank you for all of your patience! 🚧🚗

Why does annual bloodwork matter for pets? 💉

Our pets can't tell us when something feels wrong and many health conditions can develop silently before symptoms appear. Annual bloodwork helps us get a closer look at your pet's overall health and can detect early signs of illness before they become more serious.

Routine bloodwork can help monitor:
🐾Organ function (liver and kidneys)
🐾Blood sugar levels
🐾Signs of infection or inflammation
🐾Thyroid disease
🐾Anemia and other blood abnormalities

For senior pets especially, yearly lab work is an important part of preventative care and helps us establish a healthy baseline to compare over time 💛

Early detection can lead to earlier treatment, better outcomes, and more healthy years with your furry family member! 🐶🐱

🥰Meet our Pets Monday🥰

Every Monday, we'll be sharing one of our staff members' companion animals and giving you a peek into their personality and life at home. This week we're excited to spotlight Brooke's kitty, Josie. Josie is a 4 year old, domestic shorthair!💕

1️⃣How long have you had your pet and where did you get them from?
Brooke has owned Josie since she was 4 months old. She started off fostering her from the Lakeland Humane Society in Cold Lake, AB but instantly fell in love with her and had to foster fail!

2️⃣What is their funniest or weirdest habit?
"She thinks she is a lioness and will lie down in the most uncomfortable looking positions."

3️⃣If they had a job, what would it be?
"She would either be a podcaster because she loves to yap or a parkour artist because she loves to run around my house like its an obstacle course."

4️⃣What are their nicknames?
Jos, girly, ladybug

5️⃣What's one preventative care step you never skip for your pet?
"I always monitor her weight and measure her daily food portions. Overweight kitties can lead to health problems like diabetes and urinary issues, so maintaining a lean body condition is key to keeping her healthy!"
