Simple changes can make all the difference! Here's what helped.

✅ Fed colostrum sooner: Reduced time to first feeding from several hours to within 20 minutes after birth.
✅ Standardized colostrum quality: Increased Brix to 30% (≈100 g/L IgG) using enrichment with 100% bovine colostrum powder.
✅ Extended colostrum feeding: Added 70 g of colostrum powder twice daily for 10 days to milk replacer to mimic transition milk benefits.

When temps drop below 13.4°C (56°F), newborn calves face cold stress.

Help them fight back: feed warm, whole colostrum rich in natural colostral fat, it fuels energy and activates brown fat metabolism for heat. If a calf won’t suckle, tube feed. And remember: only whole colostral fat, not added fats, powers their internal furnace.
