🦠 Important Update from Victoria Road Animal Hospital! 🦠
Since the beginning of March, we’ve already performed 15 4DX heartworm/tick-borne disease tests — and we’ve just seen our first Lyme positive test of the season. Lyme disease in dogs is caused by the Borrelia burgdorferi bacteria, typically transmitted through the bite of an infected tick. Symptoms can include lameness, fever, loss of appetite, and lethargy.
🔍 Why is Yearly Testing Important? In Ontario, ticks carrying Lyme disease are becoming more common. Regular testing helps detect infections early, allowing us to start treatment before serious complications arise.
If you haven’t scheduled your pet’s annual test yet, now is the perfect time! Protect your furry friend and keep them healthy this season. 🐾❤️
