Meet Lakeside's own Dr. Mitchell! 🐇🐾
Dr. Paige Mitchell grew up in Fredericton, New Brunswick, then moved to Prince Edward Island and completed her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at the Atlantic Veterinary College in 2025. Throughout her schooling, Dr. Paige dedicated herself to expanding her knowledge on exotic pet medicine, behavioural medicine, and compassionate end-of-life care. She has attended numerous courses internationally to hone these skills.
Upon graduation, she started working in a rural general practice clinic in New Brunswick, where she was able to work with dogs, cats, small mammals, as well as feathered and scaled friends. She then moved to Ontario, to start a zoo/wildlife anatomic pathology residency at the Ontario Veterinary College, with the intent to further our collective understanding of diseases in zoological species. Dr. Paige knew that she also wanted to continue working in clinical practice - treating furred, feathered, and scaled critters alike - and is thrilled for the opportunity to provide these services when not at the college.
In her spare time, Dr. Paige loves spending time outdoors with her two dogs and partner, gardening, dog training, and tending to her in-home zoo of rescued animals.
