As an integrative clinic, we love offering our clients both conventional and more natural options for their pets health and well being. Even in regards to parasite prevention!

A product we love and swear by is the Yemaya Pet Outdoor Body Spray.

This product can be used in conjunction with your pets medicated parasite prevention, or strictly as a topical parasite prevention.
This wonderful spray contains essential oils that pesky bugs despise! In particular, Balsam Fir essential oil, which we recently had added to this product to help ward off nasty ticks!

It took a while, but here is hoping that the warmer days of summer have finally arrived!☀️🐈‍⬛🐕
and what better way to enjoy these warm, sunny days then to spend time outside with our furry friends.

However, it is important to follow a few safety tips while enjoying the heat!
- ensure that your dog has adequate access to water (even bring a bottle along for their walk!)
- ensure your dog is allowed access to shaded areas, so they can cool down when needed
- make sure you're up to date on giving their parasite prevention! (whether that be their medication or topical sprays)
- if the sidewalk to too hot to touch with the back of your hand, then its too hot for your dog's paws! Stick to grassy, or dirt covered paths when walking on the extra warm days

today we celebrate the home we all share, planet Earth!
this years theme is "our power, our planet," which focuses on encouraging people to take action on climate change and renewable energy.
We only have one earth.
It can be easy to think small, individual changes don't make a big impact, but when we all work together towards a common care and goal, that is when the biggest changes occur!
We hope everyone enjoys this special day in the sun and with their four legged friends.

🥚🐣 Happy Easter Weekend everyone! 🐣🥚

Please note that we are closed today (Friday, April 18) for Good Friday.

Regular business hours will resume tomorrow, where we will be open for retail only from 9am to 12pm.

We will also be open on Monday, April 21 as usual.

Don't let the fluctuating temperatures fool you! Ticks are very much awake and active right now!
And even though your pets may be on parasite prevention and or using a topical repellent, it is still important to incorporate 'tick checks' into your pet's routine after spending time outdoors.

Important areas to check your cats and dogs for ticks include:
-In and around the ears and face.
-Under the collar.
-Under the front legs.
-Between the back legs.
-Between the toes.
-Around the tail.

Ticks are often overlooked as pieces of dirt or skin tags, so be sure to take a good look at any new or curious looking bumps or specs on your pets hair and skin!

If you do find a tick, having a handy took like a "Tick-Twister" (sold here in clinic) makes it easier to safely twist and remove the tick in its entirety, as you don't want to leave the head or mouth pieces behind if it has attached.

Its official! Spring has Sprung!🌱

and with this increase in temperatures comes the increase in activity of the pesky parasites we all know like fleas and ticks!
Don't let the fluctuating weather fool you, we have already seen and removed ticks from some of our patients!

Now is the time to book in your Spring Wellness Exams and make sure your cats and dogs are protected.
Please call or email into the clinic to book in your 4Dx tests and pickup your parasite prevention during the same appointment!
We also continue to offer natural topical repellents for you to use on your pets as well.

meet Jasper!

Jasper found himself in our care and he is in search of a new home, to no fault of his own!
He is a sweet, senior boy with a lot of love still to give. He is a laidback kitty with a gentle demeanour. He can often be found requesting to sit on our staff members laps or perched on their shoulders and he enjoys being with people.
A fun fact about Jasper is that he is a polydactyl cat! Meaning he has extra toes on his front paws!
In his older age, Jasper has a few health issues, but all are very manageable. He is bright and still quite active for 17!
(though sleeping might be his favourite hobby).

February marks Pet Dental Health Month!🦷🐾

the same way we care for our own teeth daily, we should be caring for our pets!
Being proactive with our pets dental health helps ensure a healthy, pain free life for them and limit the potential to develop issues like periodontal disease and infections.

Ways we can help keep our pets mouths healthy include:
- water additives (that help reduces plaque and tarter on healthy teeth)
-Dental chews and treats (look for one with quality ingredients like Virbac CET Enzymatic chews)
- Teeth brushing (ensuring you use a soft, pet friendly brush and tasty pet toothpaste help with making teeth brushing an enjoyable experience!)
