This World Diabetes Day, we’re raising awareness of the early warning signs because catching diabetes early can make a big difference.
Here’s what to watch for:
💦 Drinking more than usual
🚽 Urinating more often
🍽️ Always hungry, but losing weight
😴 Low energy or sleeping more
🐈 Greasy or unkempt coat (especially in cats)
These signs can be easy to miss at first. If anything seems ‘just not right’, it’s worth checking.

By now, hedgehogs should be tucked away for hibernation. So, if you see one wandering around your garden, it might mean it needs a helping hand.

Here’s how to know when a hedgehog needs help:

🦔 Circling, staggering or showing difficulties walking

🦔 Seems injured or distressed

🦔 Is out during the day

🦔 Trapped in fencing or a pond

🦔 Wobbly when walking

Please don’t leave hedgehogs out during the day. If you’re unsure, call your local wildlife rescue.

⭐Pet of the Week!⭐
This week's pet of the week is ... Fudge!
Fudge has quite the story to tell, a couple of months ago she was rushed down to our Poulton surgery after being attacked by another dog. She had some bite wounds on her left shoulder and chest area. Fudge had a general anaesthetic for us to examine, clean and stitch her wounds. She was very brave and recovered well from her anaesthetic.
During Fudge's recovery at home, she started to become quite uncomfortable and unwell and visited our out of hours at Garstang for treatment.
Dog bites can take a while to heal, they can sometimes break down and become infected, which started to happen with Fudge's wound. She had to have regular bandage changes with the Vets and Nurses, she was very well behaved and in time the wound got gradually smaller and healthier!
We are happy to say that Fudge has been signed off , she is now doing great and her wound is very small in size!

Well done for being such a brave girl Fudge ! We are so glad you are healing well and feeling better😊!

📣📣We wanted to talk about one of the many fantastic perks of being a client of Lanes Vets, and that is our new partnership with VidiVet!📣📣

For 90 days all of our registered clients will have completely free of charge access to VidiVet 24/7! This means that you will be able to contact a vet at any time of the day or night, by sending a video, photo or written message. You will always receive a video answer from a vet in less time than it takes to make a cup of tea!

What better than having the support of a vet at your fingertips with unlimited messages! We see so much value in this service that we will pay for it so that you don't have to!

📧We have asked our friends at VidiVet to send you 4 emails telling you how to register. We kindly ask that you do this straight away so that it is ready if you need it. Don't forget to tell your friends about this fantastic benefit of being a Lanes Vets client! * Please don't sign up to VidiVet without using our unique sign up link"🐾

At the end of the trial period, if successful, VidiVet will become part of the Lanes Vets health plan. For all other clients, they will simply have their access removed (no card details are collected as part of this process).
