Exciting!!! Job opportunity, SA Vet 🤩
We are a well established, progressive, independent practice who prides itself on going the extra mile for our clients.
We thrive on team-work, everyone gets ‘stuck in’ to whatever task, and everyone supports each other no matter what job title they hold.
Offering the gold standard of care, with honest, open and importantly fair prices, is what makes us unique. We publish all our prices online for anyone to view. We like to progress the care provided in first-opinion practice so that our clients don’t have to travel elsewhere. We started laparoscopic spays nearly 10 years ago and they are now our norm and last year we introduced Z-Lig repairs for cruciate ruptures. We also ensure we offer the very best for our medical cases too. We work up cases in house including USS, echos, endoscopy and a great range of inhouse lab kit.
We are forever grateful to our loyal client base who choose to trust us with their pets. As a practice we can offer standards; packages for all clients. We have no hard protocols. We offer each what is right for them and their pet, offering what they need, not what they don’t need, with absolutely no gimmicks!
Our team really is a team, or a work family. There is always support and someone to discuss with. All five vets know each others’ cases and openly discuss clinical reasoning and ideas. There’s no isolation, everything is open, we all have each others’ back. We have a fabulous team of skilled nursing and support staff, again all working together for the same goals.
Teaching and developing is one of our priorities. Paul, our Clinical Director loves nothing more that seeing a colleague learn, develop and execute new knowledge and skills. We fund CPD including travel and accommodation. We also train inhouse. We registered as a GDP practice last year and successfully have a new grad underway on the scheme. We also have an in-house competency and training package. We want our team to flourish and achieve all that they want to. Last year we supported a nurse to spend time with a vet charity in South Africa, and two of our vets, who have seen practice with us since age 14 (having also worked in other practices) have now become Directors. We are a nurse training practice and are supporting previous nursing assistants through to being RVNs. We have a very low staff turnover.
What’s the downside? No where is perfect, we certainly don’t claim to be! We work hard. It’s fast paced and busy, but we keep it light hearten and support each other. Our vets don’t slip away once they’ve done their last consult, they stay with the nurses and receptionists to ‘finish off.’ We don’t say no to clients. We always try to see them and always try to find a solution. We have high standards; we want to sort the problem. We are not in a fancy modern purpose-built building, but we do continually invest in all the modern veterinary kit and techniques. We put the money where it is needed.
It’s an exciting time for Longridge Vets. With our two new additional Directors we are expanding to add another vet. We have a new venture to add to our services without changing our core ethos.
In return for your hard work and commitment we offer 6 weeks’ paid leave, health insurance (currently BUPA), CPD funding, RCVS, VDS etc. We have fully funded social events throughout the year, a pub-lunch rota, and every month award a staff member £100 for going the extra mile, demonstrating excellent team-work or similar. Everyone also receives a small birthday gift. Our starting salary for a new grad is £41K, through to an appropriate salary for experience.
Our full-time vets work 4 days per week, plus 1 in 3 Saturday mornings. We out-source our OOH.
We are completely open to applications from full time, part-time, new grad or more experienced vets. We have nothing set in stone, we just want the right person for our team.
