The event will take place at the fabulous and will start at 6:30pm, with an evening meal provided thanks to .

💡 Tips and tricks to prevent and reduce lameness and promote healthy feet will be shared alongside a hands on demonstration with some of the Heaton House flock.

🚨 Heatwave Warning for Livestock Owners 🚨

Hot weather doesn’t just cause heat stress—it can worsen existing health conditions in your animals.

This morning, our vet Angelica was called to a cow that had calved just 4 days ago and was suffering from a retained cleansing. The heat had pushed her into a critical state—she’d become toxic and severely dehydrated.

💧 Angelica acted fast, administering 6 litres of IV fluids and pumping in 20 litres orally to rehydrate her and stabilize her condition. When Angelica left she was up and keen to get back to her calf.

👉 If you suspect your animals are struggling in the heat, don’t wait. Early intervention can save lives.

‼️ ACORN ALERT‼️

Know your pasture and look out for oak trees & acorn dense areas.

Acorns are poisonous to cattle, sheep and horses and unfortunately often the first we know about the presence of acorns is livestock fatalities due to toxicity.

So please share to raise awareness and help to prevent poisoning. Fence off oak tree areas and know the land your livestock is grazing.
