☀️ Temperatures are set to soar this Bank Holiday weekend, and while many of us will be enjoying the sunshine, the hot weather can pose serious risks to our pets.

Every year, our veterinary teams see cases of heatstroke and dehydration that can become life-threatening very quickly. Dogs, cats, rabbits and other small pets can all struggle in high temperatures, so it's important to take extra precautions to keep them safe.

🐾 Walk dogs during the cooler parts of the day
💧 Make sure pets always have access to fresh water
🌳 Provide plenty of shade and cool resting areas
🚗 Never leave pets in cars, conservatories or poorly ventilated spaces
🔥 Check pavements and artificial grass before walks to avoid burnt paws

Watch for signs of heatstroke, including excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, vomiting, wobbliness or collapse.

If you suspect your pet is suffering from heatstroke, move them somewhere cool, offer water and contact your veterinary practice immediately for advice.

Stay safe and enjoy the sunshine responsibly with your pets. ❤️

⭐ 🌟 A NEW TEAM MEMBER ⭐ ⭐

We would like to welcome Jess to the team. 🤗 🤗 She will join Karen and Tina as part of the nursing team. Some of you may have already met her. Please make her feel welcome when you meet her.

Some words from Jess; I have always loved animals of all sizes due to growing up on a dairy, beef and arable farm.
I completed my Veterinary care assistant qualification after leaving school and then progressed on to my Veterinary Nurse training. I qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in early 2026, after taking a year off to have my little girl.
I love every aspect of nursing, no two days are the same. I particularly love inpatient care and nurse consults. You can build a real bond with the patients which definitely puts them at ease.
In my spare time I like to socialise with friends and family and do a spot of baking!

Beautiful Storm visited us recently for the day to be Speyed. She was a lovely in patient and had lots of cuddles from Tina during her recovery. She went home with a surgical suit to prevent her getting to her wound. She was pleased to see Mum at the end of the day and has now made a full recovery 💕

🐾 A familiar face & a very brave boy! 🐾

Many of you will recognise Max, a lovely senior Border Collie who visits us regularly for the ongoing management of his Osteoarthritis. From pain medication check ups to his monthly injections, Max takes it all in his stride (especially when snacks are involved!).

Back in February, Max developed a sore on one of his hind paws, which meant a few extra visits for dressing changes with nurse Tina 💕. He handled every appointment like an absolute champion - and we are very happy to say this wound has now healed 🥳

To celebrate, Max was presented with a well deserved bravery certificate 🥇 for being such a superstar throughout his treatment.

He’s always a joy to see in the waiting room and never arrives without his trusty bucket of sprats to help make the experience as enjoyable as possible for everyone involved!

Well done, Max - We are so proud of you 💙 🐶
