Bonfire Night can be fun for us - but scary for our furry friends! Here are a few ways to keep them calm and safe tonight 💛🐾

🐶 Keep them indoors – Close windows, curtains, and doors to muffle loud bangs.
🐱 Create a cosy den – A familiar blanket or favourite toy can help them feel secure.
🎶 Soothing sounds – Play calm music or leave the TV on to mask the noise.
💡 Stay calm yourself – Pets pick up on your emotions; keep things relaxed.
🔖 ID check – Make sure microchips and tags are up to date, just in case.

🚨🐶Our thoughts on the CMA’s vet pricing investigation🐶🚨

You may have seen the recent news about the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) looking into how veterinary services are priced and how information is shared with pet owners. We welcome this — transparency, trust and informed choices are at the heart of what we do every day.

As an independent practice, we’ve always believed pet owners deserve clear information about their options and costs. We already publish our prices for common services, give written estimates before procedures, and talk openly about different treatment choices — including costs, medication options, and when referral might be best for your pet.

We’re also transparent about who we are (no hidden corporate ownership here!) and how our out-of-hours care works, so there are no surprises when you need us most.

Many of the CMA’s proposed remedies — clearer price lists, visible ownership, written estimates, open prescription policies — are things we’ve been doing for years because we think they’re simply good practice. We believe that honest conversations and informed decisions lead to the best outcomes for pets and their owners.

While we fully support steps that make it easier for owners to compare services and understand what they’re paying for, we also hope any new rules are fair to smaller, independent practices who already prioritise transparency but don’t have the same resources as big corporate groups.
