Poor Letty had an unlucky accident in the paddock and ended up with a pretty nasty wound 😬

Dr Callum carefully assessed the injury, anaesthetised her, and performed surgery to clean and close the wound. Letty then headed home with pain relief, antibiotics, and plenty of TLC 🤍

Now she’s back to have her stitches removed, and we’re so happy to see she’s healing beautifully 🐾✨

🐔 Keep Your Chickens Healthy – Don’t Forget to Worm! 🐔

Today we had a chicken with a very heavy worm burden—a situation that can develop quietly over time if left unchecked.

This hen came in showing signs like weight loss, lethargy, and reduced appetite. On examination, it was clear that internal parasites had taken a significant toll on her health. She’s now receiving treatment

Cases like this are an important reminder that even well-loved backyard chickens can be affected by worms without obvious early signs.

Regular worming is key to preventing:
• Heavy parasite loads
• Poor condition and weight loss
• Drops in egg production
• Serious health complications

We recommend sticking to a routine worming schedule and maintaining good coop hygiene to reduce the risk.

If you’re unsure when your chickens were last wormed, or need advice on the right products, our team is here to help.

🐓 Healthy flock, happy flock!

🤠 Big Morning on the Job! 🐄

Dr Callum Murray has been flat out this week preg testing 700 head of cattle before lunch—and the dust tells the whole story!

From early starts to long hours in the yards, it’s all part of the job keeping herds healthy and productive. Not glamorous, but it’s real vet work.

And in true form, he had to race straight back into town to grab some well-earned slow-cooked burritos for lunch… before even getting a chance to shower 🌯😄

Now that’s commitment.

Yeehaw! What an unforgettable weekend at the GDVS Wild West show stall! 🤠🌵

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came along and joined in the fun. From the excitement of all the prizes to the gold-rush-style digging in our sandpit (where lollies were the real treasure! 🍬), there was never a dull moment.

One of the biggest highlights had to be our adorable baby chickens 🐥 — it was so special seeing the kids gently holding them, completely fascinated and full of smiles. Alongside all the digging, laughter, and prize-winning, those quiet, sweet moments made the weekend even more memorable.

The kids dug for hours, the energy was incredible, and the whole stall truly felt like a lively Wild West town full of happy little cowboys and cowgirls.

We’re so grateful to everyone who stopped by, helped out, or shared in the experience — you made it such a fantastic success. We couldn’t have done it without our amazing community.

Until next time, partners! 🤎

Today, we pause to remember and honour the bravery, sacrifice, and enduring spirit of the ANZACs—both human and animal.

On this ANZAC Day, we pay special tribute to the often-overlooked heroes who served alongside our soldiers. From the loyal horses that carried troops across harsh terrain to the courageous dogs who delivered messages and provided companionship, these animals played an extraordinary role in times of war.

Their service reminds us of the deep bond between humans and animals, built on trust, loyalty, and courage in the face of adversity.

At our clinic, we are proud to care for animals every day, and today we remember those who served with honour and gave so much.

Our clinic will be closed on ANZAC Day as we take time to reflect and honour those who have served.

We will still have a veterinarian on call for emergencies only. If your pet requires urgent care, please contact us (07 4671 3405) and follow the prompts to be connected with the on-call vet.

Lest we forget. 🌺

🐾 The truth about treating your pets…

That “small” treat might not be so small after all!

For a 4.5kg cat, just a little cheese or a cup of milk can be the equivalent of several hamburgers for us. And for a 9kg dog, a small snack like cheese or peanut butter can quickly add up too.

🍔 What feels like a tiny reward can be a big calorie hit for your pet.

Keeping treats in check helps prevent weight gain and keeps your furry friends healthy, active, and happy. 💙

✔️ Stick to pet-appropriate treats
✔️ Keep portions small
✔️ When in doubt, ask us for advice!

Got questions about your pet’s diet? We’re here to help—reach out anytime.
