🌵 Mi Con Acre – 2025/2026 Breeding Season 🌵

While Mi Con Acre is having a well-earned rest before the spring drafts, it's the perfect time to let you know that his 2025–2026 breeding contract is now available!

This young stallion has already achieved so much in a short time, showing natural talent, heart, and consistency in the campdraft arena.

Congratulations to the team behind Rathdowney Campdraft!
What an incredible weekend you put together an absolute credit to everyone involved. Thank you to all the sponsors, cattle donors, committee members and volunteers. Hosting an event is never easy, but you should all be so proud of what you achieved. Even better, funds were raised for Alex Wilson, who told me on the weekend that he’ll be home from hospital for good in just a few weeks!

We had a pretty special weekend ourselves Mi Con Acre WON the Alex Wilson Jackpot Draft! Congratulations to all the placegetters and everyone who took part. I must confess, this win means the world to Bunny and myself. What made it even more special was that my dad was there to witness Mi Con Acre break his Open status with a cracking (23/63/4) 90-point run.

For Dad to see his cool horse achieve that, and for his friends to see him too, means more to us than we could ever put into words.

Sadly, Dad was very unwell and in hospital back in September when Bunny took Mi Con Acres to Dirranbandi for just his third start where he won the Maiden Draft. He also wasn’t able to see MCA take out the Novice at Gidgeefield in November. And now, just six short months later, Mi Con Acres is officially an Open horse.

The story gets even better Uncle Don bought the slot for Bunny to ride, making it a true family affair. We feel incredibly blessed to have a family that believes in us as much as we believe in the beautiful horse, and to have this great stallion in our lives, watching what he’s achieved in such a short time. And to top it all off, this win marks Bunny’s very first Open Draft victory just him and Mi Con Acres out there doing it together. I am so proud of both
What a weekend. What a horse. What a team

As the dust settles from our competition season, we’re now in full swing of breeding season, and it’s the perfect time to reflect on Mi Con Acre’s incredible first season of drafting.
This year, Mi Con Acre truly shone:
šŸ† Dirranbandi: Won the Maiden Draft with standout scores of 87 and 89.
🐓 Westmar & Goondiwindi: Competed in the Novice Draft, showing his consistency.
🌟 Condamine & Warwick: Made it into the second round of the prestigious Canning Downs Draft.
šŸ† Gidgee Field: Wrapped up the year with a fantastic weekend of drafting success winning the Novice.

We’re also celebrating a big milestone—Mi Con Acre turns 6 this week! And to top it all off, it’s been an exciting week on the breeding front, with three of Mi Con Acre’s foals born. Watching his legacy grow and imagining his progeny competing alongside him one day is truly something special.

Here’s to a fantastic season, a special birthday, and an exciting future ahead for Mi Con Acre and his line!

The story behind this horse and jockey combo and where they have come from along a journey together is pretty special!! šŸ“šŸ†šŸ¤

One thing I love about capturing people and their horses is sometimes I discover such powerful stories of determination, strength and courage shared between both jockey and horse (and is this case partner too) šŸ˜

Congratulations team!! 🄳🄳

Dad popped in today to say hi and give MI CON ACRE a pat. He hadn’t seen him in a while, and the smile on Dad’s face said it all! It’s moments like these that remind me why we had such big dreams for this c**t and what he’s already achieved in such a short time.

I’m beyond grateful for the incredible tribe of people who helped make this happen. Dad and I couldn’t have done it without you all.

Shoutout to Cameron Turner, who broke in Mi Con Acre, and to my cousin Beau Beutel, who (if you ask him) did "all the training" šŸ˜„. Thanks for those wet saddle blankets, Beau!

We then sent Mi Con Acre to Nathan Wilson Training Stables, where he was prepared for the 2023 Cloncurry Challenge. Mi Con Acre placed 4th in the campdraft and 9th overall out of 100+ horses (I believe—don’t quote me on that!). Afterward, he came home, and we headed to the Bollon Draft in 2023 with Robert Bunn (Bunny) as the jockey. Dad said to Bunny, "Just a 90, big fella," and Bunny delivered an 89 in the first round of the maiden. Though we were unsuccessful in the final, we didn’t care—what a run!

This story is particularly special because Bunny had just finished chemo the Wednesday before. His goal throughout treatment was to do the spring run of drafts, and thanks to his grit and Mi Con Acre’s talent, they pulled off this incredible first run.

After a well-earned rest, we hit the spring run again this year, starting with the Dirranbandi Campdraft. Bunny and Mi Con Acre scored 89 in the first round and 87 in the final, giving them a 14-point lead to take the WIN! What made it extra special was that Dad couldn’t be there—he was in the hospital for surgery. Before going in, Dad knew we were in the lead. As soon as he got out of recovery, still groggy, Dad called me. I put him on loudspeaker, and I told him, "We’ve got a novice for you, Dad." He was over the moon! I was sitting with Uncle Don, Beau, Curtis, and Bunny—you couldn’t wipe the smile off our faces.

The best part? Today, I got to give Dad the trophy, saddle cloth, and ribbon. He did ask about the prize money, but I told him it’s his shout at the bar! šŸ»

And this is only the beginning...
