🌧️ IT'S RAINING, IT'S POURING, THE DOGS ARE GOING MENTAL! 🐕💨
It's officially moister than an oyster outside, the backyard is a swamp, and the dogs are bouncing off the walls like they've had six Red Bulls and a personal vendetta against your furniture. 😂
Before you lose your sanity (or your couch), here are some Fins & Fur approved rainy-day enrichment ideas! 🐾
🐽 Sniffari, indoor edition!
Scatter some kibble around the house, hide treats under furniture or roll them up in an old towel. Let those noses do the work!
📦 Destruction, but make it legal!
Got empty cardboard boxes, toilet rolls or paper bags? Hide treats inside and let your dog shred their way to happiness. Supervise, especially if they're inclined to eat the packaging!
🧊 Lick it, don't kick it!
Smear some dog-safe peanut butter (NO xylitol!), wet food or plain yoghurt onto a lick mat and freeze it. Licking is a great calming activity and might buy you enough peace to drink a coffee while it's still hot.
🎓 Teach an old dog new tricks!
Rainy days are perfect for brushing up on sit, stay, spin, touch or teaching something completely ridiculous. Five minutes of brain work can be surprisingly tiring!
🧺 The great towel burrito!
Lay out a towel, scatter some treats, roll it up and let your dog figure out how to unravel their delicious little mystery.
🙈 Hide and seek!
Hide somewhere in the house and call your dog. Reward them when they find you! Bonus points if your dog is so hopeless at finding you that you get ten minutes of uninterrupted peace.
🐕 Dinner is served... eventually!
Ditch the boring food bowl! Use puzzle feeders, snuffle mats or scatter feeding to turn dinner into an activity instead of a 12-second disappearing act.
💜 REMEMBER: Mental stimulation can be just as valuable as physical exercise. You don't need to run your dog into the ground to tire them out — sometimes you just need to make them use the little brain cell rattling around in there. 😂
