As temps rise, so does the risk of heatstroke in dogs. Make sure your furry friend stays cool and hydrated with these summer safety tips:

✅ Always provide fresh, cool water
✅ Avoid walks during peak heat (opt for early morning or late evening)
✅ Never leave your dog in a parked car — even for a minute
✅ Watch for signs of overheating: excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, or uncoordinated movement

The VCA Northwest Animal Hospital team had an absolute blast at Boo at the Zoo! 👻🐘

From dressing up in our best animal-inspired (and Harry Potter inspired) costumes to handing out treats and meeting so many fantastic families and their little ghouls and goblins, it was a night to remember!

We loved sharing pet safety tips for Halloween and seeing the excitement in the faces of visitors as they explored the zoo's festive attractions. A big thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hi and join in the fun! 🍬🍫

We had an amazing time at Dogtoberfest, and our furry friends certainly did too! Our dedicated VCA Northwest Animal Hospital staff joined the festivities, spreading the word about our pawsome rehab services and offering free massages to keep those tails wagging! 💆🐾

From playful pups getting pampered to owners learning all about the benefits of pet rehab, it was a day full of smiles, slobbery kisses, and lots of wagging tails!

Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate with us! Pictured are some of the happy faces of our new furry friends and their silly costumes!

It is with great excitement that we can finally announce... WE ARE NOW OPEN ON SATURDAYS!!! 🎉

Our new hours will officially begin Saturday, September 14th from 8am to 5:30pm, exclusively at our Ina and Oracle location!
We will be open for Urgent Care as well as a few openings for wellness appointments. Please give us a call in advance to book appointments as we anticipate we will fill up quickly!

Saturday Urgent Care appointments will be seen in order of urgency, so be aware that wait times may vary.

We are so excited to be able to serve our community on Saturdays again!

Welcome Dr. Alyssa Rankin to our VCA Northwest Animal Hospital Team! Dr. Alyssa Rankin will be joining us in September 2024.

Alyssa’s path to veterinary medicine was greatly influenced by her master’s degree in public health, which she earned from the University of Arizona in 2021. "My background in public health significantly influenced my decision to become a veterinarian by instilling a deep understanding of the interconnectedness between human and animal health." Through her studies, Alyssa gained valuable insights into zoonotic diseases, health disparities, and the critical importance of preventative care. As a general practitioner, she’s excited to bridge the gap between animal welfare and public health, ensuring healthier lives for animals and humans.

Alyssa is particularly thrilled to join us at VCA Northwest Animal Hospital, where she stated she felt an immediate connection during her clinical rotation with us. "The enthusiasm and support from everyone made me feel at home from day one." The welcoming environment, combined with the expertise of her future colleagues, inspires her to contribute and grow within our dynamic team.

Alyssa advises future veterinary students to stay open to new opportunities and embrace the learning experiences they bring. "Don’t forget to have fun along the way, as your passion for animals should bring you joy every day." She also reminds students to remember why they chose this path—whether it’s a love for animals, a desire to make a difference, or a passion for veterinary science. These motivations, she believes, will guide and inspire them through both the challenges and triumphs of their journey.
