We’re still smiling about this one. 😃
Last Thursday, PawDoc Surgery + Dental Center was featured on CBS19 in Texas, highlighting an incredible partnership with the Italian Greyhound Rescue.

This feature was about partnership, trust, and shared goals: making high-quality surgical and dental care more accessible for pets and their people. Huge shoutout to our doctors, techs, and support team who showed up as their authentic, hardworking, big-hearted selves (as always).

Thank you, CBS19, for helping us spread awareness, and thank you to our community for cheering us on every step of the way.

Meet Jenna Mayer, Hospital Administrator at Eau Claire Animal Hospital in Wisconsin—someone who literally grew up inside the walls of the clinic she now leads. 🏥

From greeting clients by name to driving an elderly pet parent to the ER because he had no way to get there, Jenna leads with empathy, connection, and fierce dedication. She started as a receptionist nine years ago and now leads a high-performing, deeply rooted team with some members celebrating 10, 20, even 30 years at the hospital.

“I hope people remember my heart—that I poured everything into helping them grow and feel supported.” We’re proud to have Jenna as part of the Lakefield family.

For Jenna Mayer, veterinary medicine isn’t something she discovered—it’s something she grew up inside. Her mother, Jayne, was Eau Claire Animal Hospital’s (Eau Claire, WI) practice manager for 20 years and later owned the clinic prior to its transition to Lakefield. “I was raised here,” ...

Meet Vigo, our first Care Beyond Limits patient! Town and Country Animal Hospital recently helped the very first pet through Lakefield’s new Care Beyond Limits fund: a shoulder-riding, upside-down-snuggling cat named Vigo.

Vigo has battled painful stomatitis for years. When his pain and infection returned again, his family was facing financial hardship, including underemployment and being unable to qualify for standard financing support at the time. That’s when the fund stepped in, becoming the lifeline he needed to receive care and finally get relief.

He’s now recovering and back to what he does best: snuggling on shoulders and charming everyone he meets. This is exactly why Care Beyond Limits exists - to lift barriers when pets need care the most.

More stories to come. 💙🐾

20 New Beginnings start now.
Earlier this month, our PawDoc Surgery + Dental Center team began caring for 20 rescued Italian Greyhounds from a hoarding situation in Smith County, TX. PawDoc Surgery + Dental Center will provide complimentary spay/neuter procedures, dental cleanings, extractions, microchipping, and rabies vaccinations through the Care Beyond Limits Fund, a Lakefield-affiliated charitable program.
In partnership with the Italian Greyhound Rescue Foundation Texas & Oklahoma Chapter, these procedures will give each dog the healthy, happy start they deserve after surviving one of the largest hoarding cases in the region.
As Dr. Joyce Li of PawDoc Surgery + Dental Center shared, “This is more than a medical mission, it’s a story of hope, healing, and second chances.”
Follow along to see how their journey unfolds and visit Italian Greyhound Rescue Foundation Texas and Oklahoma for more information on adoption availability. From rescue to recovery, and soon, to forever homes, we are honored to be a part of their journey 🧡

Keep Halloween fun, not frightening for your pets! Here are a few common Halloween hazards to watch out for:

⚠️ Treats & candy – Chocolate, xylitol, and raisins can be toxic.

⚠️ Decorations – Cords, candles, and fake cobwebs can cause burns or injuries.

⚠️ Costumes – Ensure they’re comfortable, breathable, and don’t restrict movement.

⚠️ Noise & door traffic – Trick-or-treaters can stress pets out or lead to escapes.

Tip: Keep pets in a quiet, safe room during the busiest hours, and always supervise them if they’re wearing a costume.

If your pet gets into a Halloween scare, call us right away. We’re here to help. 🐶🐱👻

🎃 Halloween is fun, but it can be tricky for pets.

A few safety reminders from your veterinary team:
• Keep candy out of reach (especially chocolate & xylitol)
• Avoid glow sticks—they’re not chew toys
• Choose pet-safe costumes without strings or choking hazards

Not sure if your pet is Halloween-ready? Give us a call, we’re happy to help!

On behalf of Dr. Chance, Dr. Hogan, and myself, we would like to invite our clients to help us honor our incredible veterinary technician team.
We’ve set up a board in the clinic where you can leave a note of appreciation, share a kind word, or simply let our techs know how much they mean to you and your pets.
Our vet techs are a truly amazing group of dedicated professionals who go above and beyond every day to care for your beloved furry family members. Their compassion, skill, and hard work make all the difference.
Join us in showing them just how appreciated they are this week!

Fall is a great season for walks and play—but it also brings some risks:

🌙 Darker evenings – Use reflective gear to stay visible.
❄️ Cooler temps – Seniors and small breeds may need a jacket.
🦝 Wildlife activity – Keep pets leashed to avoid surprises.
🍁 Leaf piles – Fun to jump in, but can hide ticks, mold, or sharp sticks.

👉 If your pet gets injured or spooked, we’re just a call away.

💳 Concerned about cost? We accept the CareCredit credit care*, a flexible payment option that covers pet care and even personal healthcare needs, too.
