This , we’re celebrating the passion and perseverance of veterinary technicians who go above and beyond—like Danielle, a VCA technician pursuing her Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS) designation.

In our latest blog, Danielle shares what it’s really like to study for a VTS: the long hours, the learning curve, and the incredible sense of purpose that comes with advancing your skills. Love Is Blind season 8 meets Dog Day Out... and we're ready to say, "I do!"

Thanks to VCA Charities' amazing partners at Minneapolis Animal Care & Control, in collaboration with their Dog Day Out initiative, we are grateful for the success of the Fido Field Trip Program! Back in the Spring, the shelter dogs got their own ā€œLove is Blindā€ adventure when the fabulous ladies of Season 8 joined the fun, taking some shelter pups out for unforgettable field trips filled with smiles.

Did you know that research shows that dogs who experience a single day outside the shelter are 10x more likely to be adopted?! These outings give shelter dogs a break from the kennel, which reduces stress while increasing community volunteerism.

For those of you who are not aware, Dr. Stanley Rubin has retired.

Over the past two years, Dr. Rubin has been an integral part of VCA Valley Animal Hospital and Emergency Center as our Medical Director. His dedication, compassion and expertise have made a lasting impact on our clients, their beloved pets and our entire team.

Dr. Rubin’s retirement marks the culmination of a remarkable 45-year career in veterinary medicine. His contributions have extended far beyond the exam room: from teaching at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Saskatchewan, and the University of Illinois, to earning Diplomate status with the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, to serving as one of VCA’s respected Regional Medical Directors. He even co-authored a veterinary textbook still widely used by students and professionals today. What a career indeed!

We are immensely grateful to Dr. Rubin for all he’s brought to our hospital and to the veterinary community. Please join us in wishing him all the best in this exciting next chapter.

Congratulations, Dr. Rubin, your dedication to veterinary medicine will continue to inspire us.

Most of you may already know, but for those who haven't heard: Dr. Schug has relocated to Nashville, TN to join the team at VCA PetMed.

We are incredibly grateful for the care and compassion he has shown our patients and clients over the past three years, and to say he will be greatly missed would be an understatement.

Rest assured, your pets will still be in excellent hands with one of our other Primary Care Veterinarians: Drs. Coverdill, Thompson, Zlatow, or O'Dell.

Please join us in wishing Dr. Schug all the best in this exciting new opportunity, and safe travels as he begins his next chapter!
