It might be hotter on the feet than you realize lately. Remember your pyretic paw protection as the summer sizzles on! Prevention and mindfulness is the key. Going out in the morning and evening definitely helps and check the asphalt if you must take the jaunt mid day.

Fleas! They are out there. Lurking. Waiting. Yearning for blood-bluh-bluh! 5 Sneaky Ways Fleas and Ticks Try to Crash Your Indoor Cat’s Cozy Life 🐾

- Roomie Shenanigans: Got a doggo or other furry buddy at home? Even with flea meds, they can play accidental Uber driver for fleas.
- You, the Unwitting Chauffeur: Fleas think your pants legs are the express route to Fluffy’s paradise. Shoes and socks? VIP flea seating.
- Rodent Rascals: Mice and rats can be surprise guests with unwelcome plus-ones. If they sneak in, fleas might follow.
- Cat-ventures Out and About: Whether it’s a spa day at the groomer or sunbathing on the patio, your cat might meet a not-so-purrfect pest.
- New Digs, Old Problems: Moving to a new home? Fleas from past tenants might still be lurking, just waiting for a new warm body to call their own.

Hydration Awareness Month everyone! Yesterday was a bit on the woowee side so please remember that pets need water to stay healthy and survive. Hydration helps regulate body temperature, supports digestion, and keeps organs working properly. Without enough water, pets can face serious health problems like kidney issues, UTIs, and heatstroke. Be safe, it might just get hotter.

Fourth of July is upon us! If your pets have a hard time with the boomers and the cracklers it is definitely time to reup on your calming agents. We can help with that! Give us a call and let's chat about what is appropriate. ALSO, pets get lost on the Fourth with all the chaos in the air. Be Kind To Animals Week is here! A wonderful week long reminder to watch over, protect and honor all the companion animals in your life.

The American Humane Society website offers a few reminders on how to make this week exceptional:

Monday: “Give a Second Chance” – Support local shelters and rescues that provide lifesaving care for animals who’ve been victims of cruelty or neglect. You can learn more about volunteer opportunities or fostering pets and can help save lives.

Tuesday: “Choose Humane” – Make compassion part of your lifestyle by choosing humanely raised food at the grocery store (look for the American Humane Certified™ seal), visiting zoos and aquariums that are American Humane Certified, watching movies that support animal welfare on set, and more.

Wednesday: “Care for Your Pets” – Explore tips for responsible, compassionate pet care at home, including emergency preparedness for pets, pet health and safety tips and more.

Thursday: “Protect Wildlife” – Take action to safeguard wild animals and their natural habitats. With thousands of species at risk or endangered, it’s essential that we advocate for these voiceless animals and learn more about life-saving conservation initiatives. Our team at the Global Humane Conservation Fund of Africa has several programs to protect wildlife in Southern Africa.

Friday: “Celebrate the Human–Animal Bond” – Honor the inspiring stories of Hero Dogs and animals who change lives. The Hero Dog Award winners have remarkable stories to share, from rescuing missing children with keen scent tracking skills, to lending comfort and support to those in need.

Saturday: “Be the Voice of the Voiceless” – Speak up through advocacy and community involvement. Now more than ever, it is important for us to use our voices to speak on behalf of animals. Currently, there are several pieces of legislation in Congress that could improve the support and protection of animals. We hope you will help us advocate for them by calling your representatives.
