For all appointments, please call (206)524-2020 from your vehicle upon arrival. If you walked, please call from the sidewalk or side porch area.

Our clinic is finally open and we are happy to welcome our (masked) clients and patients back inside as we all try to resume some normalcy in our lives!

As all of us had to navigate how to respond to the shutdown, we now need to figure out the most safe and logical way to reopen. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we enter this welcome phase of the pandemic. While our clinic will be open, we will be operating on a hybrid of in clinic and curbside appointments. If you have a preference, please let us know when scheduling your appointment.

During the last 15 months we have been fortunate to add multiple wonderful new doctors, staff and patients to our clinic. The pandemic saw an unprecedented number of people add furry members to their families. This put a very large strain on everyone in the veterinary field as we all worked tirelessly to accommodate new patients and see to the needs of all our existing ones. It has been a stressful and exhausting time for everyone and we appreciate your kindness and patience as we all work through this new phase of our lives.

Welcome back. We are excited to see your (masked) faces again!

Welcome Dr. Kellie Wood!

Dr. Kellie Wood graduated from the University of Tennessee with her Doctorate in Veterinary
Medicine in 2021. A Southern California native, she and her husband missed the west coast (the
best coast!) and made plans to start a life with their comical mutt Skippy in gorgeous Seattle.
Dr. Wood enjoys surgery, internal medicine, dermatology, and ophthalmology. She looks
forward to building life-long relationships with her patients and helping owners provide the
best life possible for their furry friends! In her free time, she enjoys cooking, baking, hiking, and
reading.

FUN FACT!

Cat whiskers are an adorable feline feature and they serve several important purposes. Here are some interesting facts about your feline friend’s whiskers.

Whiskers are also known as vibrissae, and are thicker, stiffer hairs that are more deeply rooted in the skin. They serve as an important sensory tool for cats since they are rich in nerve endings.

Whiskers are not just located on a cat’s muzzle, they are also above the eyes, on the chin, and on the back of a cat’s front legs (carpal whiskers).

A cat’s muzzle whiskers help them discern if they can fit into a small or narrow space.

Carpal whiskers help cats climb and determine the position of their prey.

Whiskers above a cat’s eyes help protect their eyes by triggering an eye blink when they sense something nearing their face.

Whiskers are highly sensitive and can detect slight changes in an air current which allows them to maneuver in the dark.

A cat’s emotion is expressed through their whiskers. Usually, when whiskers are hanging loosely, the cat is relaxed. Whiskers will typically face forward when a cat is curious or hunting. A scared or upset cat will pin the whiskers towards their face.

Today is National Puppy Day!! Here are some fun facts about sweet, adorable and amazing PUPPIES!

When puppies are first born, they spend about 90 percent of the time sleeping and the remaining 10 percent suckling, according to Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine. This gradually decreases until they sleep 18 to 20 hours a day during their rapid growth phase.

Newborn puppies are born blind and their eyelids remain closed for the first 10 to 16 days of life. They are also born deaf and toothless. When a puppy is 4 to 8 weeks of age they will develop 28 deciduous (baby) teeth. At 4 to 7 months of age, the deciduous teeth will fall out and be replaced with their 42 permanent teeth.

The first sense that puppies begin to use is their sense of touch.

Puppies reach their full size between 12 to 24 months and smaller dog breeds mature faster than larger ones.

Puppies are born with a single coat or fur. Between 4 to 6 months of age, most puppies shed and grow their adult coat. This can depend on the puppy’s breed, health and climate.

According to Guinness World Records, the record for the largest litter of puppies is 24, born to a Neapolitan Mastiff in 2004.
