A note from Dr. Park:

To all the wonderful members of Northgate’s family,

It is with a full, but heavy heart that I announce my departure from Northgate at the end of December. It has been such an honor caring for your pets, and getting to know you and your furry, and non-furry, family members. Sharing the victories of your pets’ recoveries have always made me strive to be a better doctor. However, it is you, my dear clients, who have taught me the humanistic aspect of medicine, and have made me strive to be a better, kinder person.

I have no doubt that your pets will continue to receive the highest standard of care at Northgate. The team here are amongst the hardest working and most compassionate people I know. They end their long days smiling when your pet feels better, and weep behind closed doors when they don’t. Please continue to be kind and patient with them, especially during this crazy time.

Leaving without the many planned handshakes and hugs saddens me, but please know that I will miss you all, and feel incredibly blessed that our paths crossed.

Warmly,

Dr. Kathy Park

Why is it so hard to get a vet appointment right now?

In this video, Dr. Roark addresses veterinarians across the country, but we feel that it’s an important message for everyone to hear. With curbside service, you all must be wondering what is happening inside the hospital. The fact is, veterinary hospitals have been flooded with cases everywhere. Although we are incredibly grateful to be considered essential and tend to your pets during this unprecedented time, there is a threshold in which we cannot cross, where the quality of care is compromised by the number of cases. We are all diligently working to try to get your pet an appointment as soon as possible, and decrease the wait times for those of you who have an appointment, without compromising the level of care that we provide. Please be patient with us and know that we care about you and your pets. ❤️

New information regarding COVID-19 and cats!
If you are experiencing COVID symptoms, please quarantine your cat as well, if possible.

Cats can become infected with the new coronavirus but dogs appear not to be vulnerable, according to a study published on Wednesday, prompting the WHO to say it will take a closer look at transmission of the virus between humans and pets.

During this pandemic, we will continue to offer curbside appointments to sick pets as well as kittens and puppies who are in need of their booster vaccines. We will also continue to see euthanasia appointments.

Please help keep our staff, healthcare workers, and community safe by staying home, except for essential matters.

We miss you and look forward to seeing you again once the pandemic ends.

Dear Northgate Veterinary Clinic Family,

We are continuing to face new challenges and suggestions surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. At Northgate Veterinary Clinic (NGVC), the health, safety, and well-being of our patients, staff, and community is our top priority. We believe that together, we can all make responsible decisions that will help slow the spread of the virus.

The newest recommendations from the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) have changed the way we normally provide care to our patients and their families. The AVMA has now recommended the following protocols be added to those we have already implemented:

Curbside Check-ins
In an effort to keep our community healthy, we have moved to providing curbside service only. Only employees will be permitted in the clinic. The exceptions include emergencies, such as life-threatening injuries, and euthanasias.

When you arrive, please call us at (206) 363-8421. An assistant will take a brief history over the phone and obtain the best phone number to reach you at. The assistant will then meet you at your car and transport your pet into the clinic. Once the doctor examines your pet, a technician will call you with the recommended plan, price estimate, and estimated timeframe. You will then be transferred to the client relations team who will obtain payment by phone for services rendered. Once all treatments have been performed on your pet, a staff member will return your pet to your car.

A few things you can do to assist us:
- Please clean your pet’s carrier, leash, and collar as carefully as possible before arrival with an alcohol-based solution.
- Please secure all cats in a carrier, and all dogs on a leash or in a carrier.
- If you are picking up medication or food, please call ahead to provide payment over the phone.
- Please bring your own pen for signing.
- If you are ill or have been exposed to someone who is ill, please call to cancel your appointment.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during this uncertain time. We will continue to serve you and your pets as long as we possibly can!

Sincerely,

Northgate Veterinary Clinic Doctors and Staff

We are all facing unprecedented questions and challenges surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. At Northgate Veterinary Clinic (NGVC), the health, safety, and wellbeing of our patients, staff and community is our top priority. We believe that together, we can all make responsible decisions that will help slow the spread of the virus.

Because veterinary hospitals are considered an essential business, we will remain open at this time to provide the needed care for your loved ones. Since the pandemic began, we have been implementing the recommendations from the CDC regarding COVID-19. We will continue monitoring the information from numerous agencies and following all new recommendations. NGVC will strive to continue providing seamless and available service for you and your pets.

To provide the safest environment for our clients and patients we have implemented the following procedures:

For Any Pet Visit:

It is essential that anyone displaying symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, cough, or shortness of breath) or who has traveled internationally in the last 14 days or to an area in the United States with high incidence of COVID-19 not make an appointment or enter the clinic. Please call to discuss what should be done if your pet is experiencing an illness or emergency.

New Policy for Visits:

Visits to the clinic should be limited to one owner and their pet. The owners should not be exhibiting any respiratory symptoms or fever.

Please clean your carrier, leash, and collar
as carefully as possible before arrival with an alcohol-based solution.

Please use the sanitizing agents at the front desk upon arrival.

Please respect the ‘social distancing’ recommendations including maintaining a distance of 6 feet from others, and refraining from shaking hands.

If you are immunocompromised or at high risk for the virus, we can do “Car Visits”, where we obtain a history over the phone, transport your pet from your car to the clinic, and perform a thorough exam on your pet as you wait in the car. After the exam, we will call you with recommendations. Fees for the visit can be done over the phone at the completion of the visit.

Changes to Services:

At this time, we are providing annual exams and other non-illness exams on a limited basis.
We will continue providing services for all pets with an illness or an emergency.

We will not be providing technician appointment services at this time (toenail trims, anal gland expressions, grooming, vaccines, etc.) Subcutaneous fluids and injections appointments for our chronically ill patients will continue to be provided.

Thank you for your understanding and please do not hesitate to call us with any questions. We are here for you, your pets, and the community in which we live. We will continue to keep you informed as news and information becomes available.

Thank you for being part of the Northgate Veterinary Clinic family!

Cool!
Can I gush about Dr. Baxter?! She’s just the absolutely best. Thanks for saving my furbaby’s life. She has taken care of Z his whole life - and has now gotten him (and me!) successfully through an emergency surgery. The incredible medical care for him and support and emotional care for me was simply tremendous. I’m so grateful!
