This is Wiggy and we are so happy for her! At 10 years old, she wound up at the Animal Shelter in November and had a litter of puppies. All of her puppies were adopted quickly but not Wiggy. Then last week, along came one of our amazing clients, who adopted Wiggy and are giving her a loving, cozy and forever home. 💙 We love happy endings!

We are excited and happy to announce that Dr. Michelle Nemeth has joined the BAH Team!

Dr. Nemeth grew up in Southern Idaho but made the move to Washington after attending Gonzaga University. She graduated summa cm laude with a major in Biology and a minor in Business Administration. Next, she headed to Washington State University, where she earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in
2006. She is passionate about working up challenging internal medicine cases and performing surgery. She believes in treating each pet as if it were her own and communicating concisely with her clients. “Animals add

Sahara

We said goodbye to our beautiful girl on Friday, June 4th. She was surrounded by love in the comfort of her home here at Ballard Animal Hospital.

Sahara was the sweetest kitty in the world. We loved her so dearly and she was ALWAYS there for us whenever we needed a snuggle. She will be missed every single day and we thank you for giving her your love when bringing your fur kids in to see us - she appreciated every bit of attention she received. Although it’s hard to think about not seeing her every day anymore, we feel very lucky to have had her in our lives for so long. She was incredibly special.

Watch For Foxtails - Foxtail season is here! We had our first case of a deeply embedded foxtail in the ear of our patient where sedation was required to remove it. We can't stress enough how important it is to check your dogs for foxtails after romps outside. For more information, see 'Fighting Foxtails' link in the comments.

Phineas just needed a comfort snuggle and moral support before his vaccines. Little did he know we had a trick up our sleeve and he enjoyed licking some peanut butter off a spoon while we gave him his shots. Before he knew what happened, it was over. Cheers to peanut butter and adorable pups!

Veterinary Tip: Trying to trim nails or apply ear medication at home? Buy a plastic placemat and smear peanut butter, easy cheeze or soft canned food on it. This will help distract your dog and make it a positive experience. If all else fails, we've got your back and are here to help. 🙌
