🎓🐾 Congratulations to our most recent Puppy R Us obedience class graduates! 🐾🎓

It’s amazing to see how much these pups have learned and grown over the past few weeks. From their very first class to graduation night, they’ve been working hard (and having fun!) with their families.

We’re so proud of all the progress they’ve made—way to go, grads! 💙

River Valley is going to the State Fair!

Come watch Dr. Laurie and Dr. Joe as they take center stage at the MVMA Surgical Suite on Tuesday, August 26th. They’ll be performing live surgeries and walking you through the routine procedures we do every day to keep pets happy and healthy.

📍 Find us on the north side of the fairgrounds in the Pet Pavilion
⏰ Surgery times: 10:00 AM & 12:00 PM

It’s a fun, educational way to see veterinary medicine in action. We’d love to see some familiar faces in the crowd—stop by and say hi!

☀️🐾 Keep Your Pup Hot Spot-Free This Summer! 🐾☀️
Hot spots (those painful, infected patches of skin) love warm, humid weather. Help your dog stay comfy and healthy with these simple tips:
✅ Keep them dry – Always dry thoroughly after swims or baths. Moisture trapped in the coat can trigger hot spots. Use a fan or cool hair dryer to dry the skin, not just a towel.
✅ Regular grooming – Brush often to prevent matting and let the skin breathe. Trim long coats if needed.
✅ Flea & tick control – Bites can cause itching that leads to hot spots. Use vet-approved preventives.
✅ Watch for allergies – Food or environmental allergies can make dogs lick and chew their skin. Talk to your vet about management.
✅ Cool resting spots – Provide shaded areas and avoid prolonged heat exposure.
If you spot redness, oozing, or constant licking—get it checked early! Preventing hot spots is easier (and cheaper) than treating them. 🐶❤️

Wishing Dr. Amber Myhand a very happy birthday. Wife, veterinarian, momma to Evie and Asher, and doggy momma to 5 little fur babies - she does it all. This girl makes work so much fun; she's sweet, sassy, and spicy 🌶️. She loves spicy mango habanero wings, Flaming Hot Funyuns, and hot tamales. At our holiday party last year, we discovered she has the most amazing singing voice 🎶. Amber, we love having you here at RVVS, and we hope you have an amazing birthday.
