Answer to Freaky Friday's post 🚨 Cuterebra 🚨

This little kitten was examined for a lump by its ear.

Did you know that pets—especially curious cats and dogs that spend time outdoors—can be affected by cuterebra (botfly larvae)? These parasites enter through the skin and develop under the surface, creating a lump that can look alarming.

⚠️ Why monitor your pets?

Cuterebra can cause painful swellings or open wounds.

If left untreated, they may lead to infection or more serious health issues.

Early detection and proper removal are key—attempting to squeeze or remove them at home can harm your pet.

👀 What to watch for:

Sudden swelling or lumps under the skin

A small breathing hole in the center of a lump

Excessive grooming, scratching, or signs of discomfort

✅ What to do:
If you notice anything unusual, contact us right away. Our veterinary team can safely treat your pet and prevent complications.

Let’s keep our furry friends safe and healthy this season! 🐾💙

☀️ Protect Your Pet from Heatstroke This Summer! ☀️
Hot weather can be dangerous for our furry friends. To keep your pets safe from heatstroke:

✅ Provide constant access to fresh, cool water
✅ Ensure shaded or indoor areas are always available
✅ Avoid exercise during the hottest parts of the day
❌ NEVER leave pets in parked cars — not even for a minute!

🔴 Signs of Heatstroke in Pets:
🐾 Excessive panting or drooling
🐾 Bright red gums
🐾 Lethargy or collapse
🐾 Vomiting or diarrhea
🐾 Staggering, seizures, or a high body temperature (over 104°F)

🚨 What to Do:
1️⃣ Move your pet to a cool, shaded area
2️⃣ Apply cool (not cold) water to their body
3️⃣ Offer small sips of cool water
4️⃣ Contact your veterinarian immediately — heatstroke is a medical emergency!

💡 Prevention Tips:
💧 Keep water bowls filled
🌳 Provide shade and proper ventilation
🐕‍🦺 Walk early in the morning or later in the evening
🚗 Never leave pets in vehicles — even with windows cracked
🧊 Try pet-safe cooling mats, vests, or shallow kiddie pools

Let’s keep summer safe and fun for everyone — including your pets!
