Whew, it’s hot out there! ☀️🌡️ Summer heat can be dangerous for our furry friends. Make sure your summer stays chill with these helpful tips!🐾

💧 Hydration is Key
Keep fresh, cool water available for your pets

🚶‍♂️ Plan for Walks
Avoid mid-day walks when the temperature is highest

✋🔥 Too Hot to Trot?
Cement and asphalt reach much higher temperatures that can cause serious paw pad burns. If it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws!

🚗 NEVER Leave Pets in Cars 🚫
Even a few minutes can be deadly as the temperature inside increases quickly - rising 20° in just 10 minutes. At one hour, your vehicle's interior temperature can be more than 40 degrees higher than the outside temperature!

🌳 Keep Cool Inside and Out 🧊
Walk on grass, provide shade and bring pets inside with fans/AC. Freeze toys or treats in ice for cool enrichment!

🚨 Know the Signs of Heatstroke🚨
Excessive panting
Drooling
Weakness or collapse
Vomiting

🐾 Penny says: Don’t panic! ✨
There’s still time to refill medications before the 4th of July! 🎆

Fireworks can be stressful for our pets, but a little planning can make a big difference. Here are a few ways to help your furry friend stay safe and calm:

✔️ Set up a quiet, secure space indoors
✔️ Walk dogs earlier in the day
✔️ Close windows and curtains to reduce noise and flashing lights
✔️ Play calming music or white noise
✔️ Comfort your pet—don’t scold fearful behavior
✔️ Check microchips and ID tags for up-to-date info
✔️ Some pets may benefit from calming medications—call us at (952) 884-8248 for more information or to request refills today!

Today is the 12th of the month! That means... it's time to give heartworm, flea and tick preventatives to your furry ones! 🐾

Did you know that in Minnesota, adult ticks will usually emerge right after the snow melts and reach peak spring-time activity during the month of May?

In MN, the American dog tick (commonly known as the wood tick) and blacklegged ticks (deer ticks) cause the most tickborne diseases including Lyme disease, Anaplasmosis, Tularemia, and more! You can keep these awful tickborne diseases by making sure your pet is getting their preventatives each month.

Don't forget, as summer quickly approaches and the heat turns up, mosquitos will be back in full force! Remember to give your monthly heartworm prevention with your flea and tick preventatives each month. 🦟

🌸🐾 Spring Reminder from Pet Crossing Animal Hospital 🐾🌸

Lilies are be beautiful, but did you know they are highly toxic to cats? Even a tiny amount — chewing a leaf, licking pollen, or drinking vase water — can cause kidney failure. And fast!

If you suspect your cat has been exposed to lilies, it's an emergency. Don't hesitate to call your veterinarian here at Pet Crossing (952-884-8248) or call the Pet Poison Helpline as soon as possible.

Keep your feline friends safe this season by keeping your home lily-free! 🐱💚
