A month ago, the MVMA Minnesota Veterinary Medical Association Used Misleading Testimony to Influence 7 GOP Legislators Who Stopped Minnesota’s Declawing Bill.

As a result of the MVMA’s opposition and the decision by seven GOP legislators to side with this trade association rather than support protecting innocent and healthy cats from this animal cruelty, many cats in MN will continue to have their toe bones and claws barbarically amputated by unethical declawing vets and will have a lifetime of pain and suffering.

Here's our investigative story that will shock you on how common declawing is in MN. https://citythekitty.org/mvma-used-misleading-testimony-to-influence-7-gop-legislators-who-stopped-minnesotas-declawing-bill/

The MVMA told legislators that according to their survey, only 30% of their member vets perform it. (Only 783 of their member vets, out of 2000, answered their survey question, which shows that it is an incomplete and half ass study. Also, 1/3 of MN vets are NOT members of the MVMA.) Our survey of 85 vet clinics in MN found that 61% of them declaw cats.

Always take the high road and educate.

Screenshot is from one of the many declawing vet clinics in MN that advertise their declawing services. This one is even proud to perform declawing. Their declawing vet is a member of the MVMA. The MVMA exists to support their member vets.

We're not giving up!!

A veterinarian for 42 years, Ronald W. Gaskin said declawing cats has been “done in ignorance” for more than 70 years.

The testimony against declawing is worth listening to.

ON 3/18/2026 St. Paul, MN Capital room G3 where the MN House Agriculture committee met to discuss the MN Declaw ban bill. The MVMA had to tell their lies to the legislators. The MVMA has taken no action to "strongly discourage" feline declawing even though it is a stated mandate. All my offers to present evidence based declaw issues have been rejected. Ignorance is bliss except for the cats waking up with amputated toes. It would be nice to deal with honest professionals. After much discussion and heart felt testimony the bill was stalled by a split party line vote after a division was called for a visual vote. The MN House is split 50/50 for the 2nd time in MN history. The GOP felt it was their duty to guarantee the cruel declaw surgery can still be performed in our State. One of the most heart felt testimony came from DFL representative Gottfried, a compassionate and caring human being.
Dr Ron Gaskin, MN Paw Project director.

These are beautiful abandoned princesses. Please donate for their life saving care. Hopefully we can find a forever home for them.

This is a plea for donations to help two abandoned kittens.
I will never understand people who throw away kittens by some dumpsters to fend for themselves. Especially in winter when a storm is coming that will cover everything with ice and snow. These sweet little girls, who I've named Chloe and Daisy, were seen by my lovely friend Alicia, and when she went back to check on them a few hours later they were sitting in the same space in the same position, scared and confused. She called me for help and we worked out a plan. She was able to catch them and brought them inside overnight but could not keep them very long as she has a lovely dog who just happens to really not like other animals. They were checked for microchips, which they don't have, and I have them in a temporary foster home for now.
I could really use your help. I've made an appointment with the vet on Monday and I'm asking for donations to help get them examined, tested for FIV/Felv and get their vaccinations. Spaying will need to happen as well.
If you or anyone you know can help with any amount, I would be most grateful. Right now the only available financing I have is a credit card with an extremely high interest rate that I save for emergencies.
Donations can be made via PayPal or GiveMN. If you use PayPal the address is [email protected] and please send it "friends and family" otherwise they will take a percentage out. The other option to donate is the Give MN page at https://www.givemn.org/organization/Basils-Cradle , but those funds are tied up for several weeks before they're disbursed so I wouldn't be able to use them immediately.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. Now that these kittens are safe inside they're coming out of their shells but Chloe is definitely traumatized and having a harder time. What matters the most is they are safe, and I'll do everything in my power to ensure they find a wonderful home.

New bill number in the MN house is HF1857. The bill has 4 authors! But we need a brave GOP author to sign on.
