📢 Prescription Refill Reminders from South Hyland Pet Hospital
We’d like to share a few reminders about how prescription refills are processed at South Hyland Pet Hospital. Our goal is to keep things transparent so we can continue to serve all our patients efficiently, accurately, and safely. ❤️
🩺 How to Request a Refill
The fastest, most accurate ways to request refills are through:

You can also text us your request — just include your pet’s name, the medication name, current dose (what you’re currently giving), and quantity needed.
Using these methods helps keep our phone lines free and allows us to process requests more efficiently. If we have any questions, we’ll reach out!
⏱ Processing Time
Please allow 24–72 hours for refill requests to be completed.
As a full-service hospital (not just a pharmacy), refills are reviewed and approved by our veterinarians between patient appointments, so same-day or “ASAP” refills aren’t always possible.
We’ll always text, call, or email when your prescription is ready for pickup.
✅ Prescription Requirements
A valid VCPR (Veterinarian/Client/Patient Relationship) is required for all prescriptions. This means your pet must have been seen by one of our vets within the last 12 months (or more recently for certain conditions).
All prescriptions are prepared by a trained staff member, double-checked, and approved by a veterinarian in accordance with AAHA standards.
💊 Controlled Substances & Drugs of Concern
These medications cannot be filled in advance — they can only be filled upon your arrival for pickup.
To speed things up, please text or call when you’re on your way so we can start preparing your medication.
🏪 Third-Party Pharmacy Requests
Please allow extra time for third-party pharmacy refills, as these take longer to process.
If you’d like to refill through another pharmacy, contact them first — they’ll reach out to us for approval.
We also offer written prescriptions if you prefer to fill elsewhere. For security reasons, these cannot be emailed but can be:

📬 Sent directly to the pharmacy of your choice.
Please note: we do not price shop for outside pharmacies — clients are responsible for comparing prices.

Orders ship free to your home within a few days!
If you prefer in-hospital pickup, please contact us 1–2 weeks in advance to ensure we have it in stock (our food deliveries come once weekly).

Please allow 1–2 weeks of advance notice for special order or compounded medications.
