We had some friends visit last week!! While Parvo is definitely something to be careful about, the AVSAB recommends that puppies under 16 weeks old (who have not completed their "puppy series" vaccines) should NOT be isolated. Early exposure to fully vaccinated adult dogs with a multitude of play styles, energy levels, sizes and ages is crucial to helping your puppy develop canine communication skills and confidence!

Results are in!!! NO ONE guessed his #1 breed, Miniature Pinscher!!! Our Closest guesses came from:
1. Kristin DesertPixie who picked Pit (14%) and Chihuahua (13%) for a total of 27 points!
2. Karen Schmauss was runner up with Pit Bull (14%) and Staffordshire (7%) for a total of 21 points!
3. Matt Buchholtz landed third for guessing Chihuahua (13%) and Staffordshire (7%) for a total of 20 points!!

No, the top 5 breeds shown don't equal 100%, there were a lot more breeds listed that contributed 3% or less. Almost all dogs, (including "purebreds") will come up with at least a little of some of the old "foundation" breeds like Greyhounds (depicted in art as far back as the ancient Egyptians) and many of the more modern breeds were created through crossing other "stock" breeds. The Pit/Bull/Staff Terrier, or "bully" breed types for example, were made by crossing the English Bulldog with various Terrier types.

Also, your veterinary staff REALLY don't care what you consume yourself, they are there to take care of your PET. If there was any kind of substance your pet potentially could have ingested, TELL THEM. Mistakes Happen. Unless there is a suspicion that there is actual animal abuse or neglect happening, or a child, at risk adult or senior citizen is in an unsafe situation, they aren't there to judge you or to be a snitch.
