Why get one cat when you can get two?! 😻

Phoenix and Locus are one of our bonded pairs and their bond is just the sweetest 🥰 The bromance these two boys share will melt your heart. They do everything together... which means DOUBLE the cuddles 🤩

From watching birds and squirrels together to playing with the laser pointer together... these two are basically inseparable. When they first joined their foster home, they were a little shy. Now, they are more comfortable and let their true personalities show. You just gotta give it some time!

A cute bonus: they might continue their routine of sleeping under your bed and when they wake up in the morning you'll be greeted with tiny meows as they climb up on the bed for pets ☺️ Every day would be a good day when they start like that!!

We are still absolutely reeling from this generous donation from Mid American Pet Food... a F U L L semi-truck filled with pallets of food were donated to our food shelf in Minneapolis 😱🤯

This semi contained 33 pallets of food. 20,516 pounds of dog food. 18,997 pounds of cat food. That totals nearly 40,000 pounds of food.

This is roughly 7% of the food that our ENTIRE organization needs for 2025. From food for our fosters, our food shelf, our Tribal partners, and everything in-between. 7% of our needs all in one day's work.

Thank you doesn't begin to cover it. We are beyond grateful for our supporters 🫶❤️

A couple weeks ago, we shared our friend Aldridge... who has been in rescue since 2021 ❤️‍🩹 There was a lot of love showed for our man, so he very kindly wrote us a little note about himself 😉

"Hiya. My name is Aldridge. You can call me Aldi, Alds, or Bubba 😎

I was told people are interested in my story... so here goes it. I like to talk so get ready for a long read! I've been with The BB since 2021. When I first arrived, I got bumped around from foster families to office kennels to different foster families. As you'll soon see, I need a special fit. I've got a lot of quirks.

In 2022, I found my current foster mama. I L O V E her. I know that she (and her entire family) loves me very much, too. I understand that she's not in a position to adopt me right now and that is A-OKAY because she's working hard to find me my pawfect fit. And I get to spend time with her until that happens so it's a pretty good arrangement if you ask me!

I have what some call behavioral issues... I call it being special, but toe-may-toe... toe-mah-toe 🍅 My foster mama has put me to work. We have trained, trained, trained, and then trained again. She says I've grown a lot over the years and that she is really proud of me. It makes me happy to hear that ☺️ Sometimes I make mistakes, but hey no one is pawfect!

Like I said... I like to talk. I'm part Husky... so what did you expect?! I take my job of keeping the humans informed very seriously. Mail delivery? I'll report it. Squirrel in the yard? I'll let them know. Neighbors on a walk? My humans must know!

My voice sometimes scares other humans and dogs. Because some people get scared, I haven't had a lot of doggy play dates so I'm not really sure if that is my thing. I've done well with a few doggos, but I might be one with a small circle of friends!

Most of the time when I'm being vocal it is because I'm just REALLY excited and can't keep my voice down. You know when you see your bestie for the first time in a long time and you can't help but scream of happiness?! Well... that's how I feel when I see other doggos on walks! It comes on a little strong, but I just cannot contain the excitement. It's one of my quirks that makes me, me!

Another one of my quirks is that I'm active... and I mean ACTIVE. I'm not a one lap around the park and few rounds of fetch kind of dog. Nope. That is not me. I am what some might call over-active... maybe you all are just under-active 🤪 I do my best when I've been walked (or ran... I love to go for runs) multiple times a day.

Once my body is worked out I like to work my brain out. Gotta stay in shape physically and mentally 🤓 Brain games and toys keep me entertained and help me be on my best behavior. I get a little out of hand if I'm not exercised every day... so if you are under-active we aren't a good match... sorry not sorry!!

While I NEED to be active, I don't thrive in situations with a lot of commotion, loud noises, or running kiddos. I get overwhelmed easily (maybe I'm an introvert?) and will start to chase and bark. It's not fun for anyone involved so I do my best to stay away from that.

Lastly, I'm on special food that has an omega-3 supplement that goes on top... and it gets topped with pumpkin 😋 It might seem a little extra... but life is short. I think I should have delicious and nutritious food!

Okay my paw is getting tired... you can email my foster mom or The BB if you want to meet me. You should know that I might be a little timid at first. I believe that you have to earn trust and love. Once we get to know each other, I will be your most loyal friend. That's when I'll join you on the couch for cuddles and pets (don't rub my head though... I don't like that).

An entire week filled with celebrating people we love?! We are so happy 🥹

Today we are celebrating Veterinary Receptionist Week in honor of our lovely team over at The Bond Between Veterinary Center 🥰 Every single day they welcome fosters and clients with warm smiles, reassurance, and care as their pets are going in for appointments.

To Kelsey, Tracey, Diane, and Hannah: thank you for all that you do. You help make the Vet Center special and keep it running week after week ❤️

It's National Volunteer Week... so obviously we are going to take a moment to brag about our AMAZING volunteers 🤩😍

Seriously y'all... we hit the jackpot with our dedicated volunteer base. Any call or ask that we have, we know someone will be there to help. From driving transport across states, to photography, to cleaning kennels, to food shelf shifts and everything in-between.

Here's some numbers from Q1 to prove how awesome they are:
🐾 We had 33 N E W volunteers sign up each WEEK
🐾 For a total of 419 NEW volunteers in just 3 months!!!!
🐾 6,615 HOURS were spent volunteering 🤯😱

Our volunteers truly are the backbone of our organization and we couldn't be more thankful that they choose us to spend their time with 🥹🥰 Thank you all. We love you. ❤️

Last week, we got the chance to visit our elementary school friends over at Eden Prairie Schools 🥰

These kiddos made blankets and toys for our animals in rescue... the least we could do was return the kindness with a cat and dog visit ❤

Showing the beauty of rescue to the next generations is one of our favorite things. They will be the ones to carry our work into the future and we couldn't be prouder 🤩

99 hours in rescue. That’s all Truffles had before she peacefully crossed the rainbow bridge. Those 99 hours were filled with so much LOVE ❤️

Truffles joined our Hospice Program with a litany of health problems. She had only one kidney. A mass on her cheek. Ear hematomas. An ear infection. Suspected torn ACLs. Osteoarthritis. And that's only naming a few.

We knew she might not have a lot of time... but nobody could’ve guessed it’d be as little as 99 hours 💔 It was discovered Truffles had a large mass near her bladder. She was in pain. The kindest thing we could do was let her go.

Truffles crossed the rainbow bridge with her loving fosters by her side. Thank you so much to her fosters for saying yes. For giving her the gift of a peaceful ending. Her time may have been short, but it was filled with an abundance of love 🌈❤

Foster feature Friday has a nice ring to it... don't you think?! 🤩😉

Today's feature is Magnolia... a sweet 7 year old Chihuahua 😍 If a weekend of coziness excites you, then Magnolia is your girl!

For the most part, she is quiet, calm, and affectionate! She'll get some spurts of energy, but she prefers the mellow days... she's our kinda gal 😉 She also ROCKS her cozy sweater look when she is romping about outside AND has an adorable ramp to get on the couch 😍

She had some medical concerns when she first came into rescue, but our friends over at The Bond Between Veterinary Center have taken care of her most pressing issues. As she ages, her family will want to monitor her eyes, arthritis, and any new masses that present with a primary care veterinarian.

Magnolia just needs a patient and quiet house to live out her life in comfort. Is that house yours?! She would love to meet you ❤️🥰

Here’s what Harrison and his wife, Shae Spady have to say about their time fostering rescue dogs:

“My time here in Minnesota has been great. One thing that's made it even greater is the amazing dogs I've met through fostering.

With my wife, Shae, and our dog, Marty, we have had the privilege of fostering six incredible dogs through The Bond Between. Each one brought its own story, spirit, and love into our home. They remind us of the power of compassion and second chances. Fostering is more than a temporary home, it’s a bridge to a better life for these amazing blameless animals who’ve often been overlooked or forgotten.

For my wife, this work is more than just a passion. It’s her heart. Her commitment to giving these dogs love, safety, and the time they need to heal is something I deeply admire.

Her goal is that in the time we have with the dog they feel very loved and safe (and in many cases for the first time). She sees the potential in every single one, and her dedication inspires many every day.

Together, we believe that fostering isn’t just about changing a dog’s life, it’s realizing they change yours, too.

Our community never fails to amaze us 🥰 Last Sunday, we hosted our first kitten surrender event to help lower the number of kittens in shelters by altering them before they get adopted out. In addition to accepting kittens, people were able to receive spay and neuter vouchers for pets they had home that aren't altered!

We accepted 7 4 (!!!!) kittens into rescue and provided 4 9 (!!!!) spay/neuter surgery vouchers 😻🥳 There were numerous pounds of litter and food given to the community as well 🤩

So many people came together for the common goal of reducing the number of kittens that end up in shelters every single year. The ripple effect of how many kittens will now avoid a shelter due to these spay and neuters is immense. We are so proud to call the Twin Cities our home ❤

🐾 Yes to opening their homes to animals in need.
🐾 Yes to giving up their time to train, love, and be patient with new animals.
🐾 Yes to loving these animals as if they were their own.
🐾 Yes to advocating for rescue.
🐾 Yes to building bonds with their fosters and community.
