We are an all-breed companion animal rescue and affordable vet clinic in Madison, Wisconsin.

e, non emergency veterinary care Monday-Friday. We provide spays, neuters, dental care, and other surgical services for cats and dogs. We also offer wellness health services (annual exams, vaccines, blood work, microchips, etc). Our clinic sees our Underdog animals, and is also open to the public. Austin is almost FIVE months old… and he’s still growing up in foster care. 💔

That’s something a puppy should NEVER have to do.

Austin is a perfectionist at all the important puppy things:
🐾 Napping? Expert level.
🐾 Tug-of-war? Champion.
🐾 Learning commands? Absolutely mastering them.
🐾 Being ridiculously adorable? He’s got that one down perfectly. 🥹❤️

Our foster network is officially bursting with sweetness—and very noisy tummies! Right now, we have over 100 feline friends staying with our incredible foster families, and every single one of them needs yummy, healthy food to grow big and strong for their forever families. 🐾

⚠️ HIGHEST NEED: We are completely running out of kitten dry food (kibble)! While we love wet food donations too, our crunchiest, most urgent priority right now is filling those dry food bowls. ⚠️

THREE LIVES. ❤️ But we want to save MORE.

Today, 3 animals from Calhoun Humane Society, made their way to Underdog.

Three lives changed.
Three fresh starts.
Three animals who now get the chance to find their forever families.

It may have been a small but mighty transport, and we are incredibly grateful for every single life we were able to welcome.

But when that van pulled in, we couldn’t help thinking…

We want to FILL these vans. 🚐🐾

Not because bigger numbers make for a better transport photo.

Because every empty crate could hold another life.

There are more dogs waiting.
More puppies waiting.
More cats and kittens waiting.
And our southern rescue partners are doing everything they can for them.

What stands between some of those animals and a ride to Wisconsin?

🏡 FOSTER HOMES.

The more fosters who step up, the more animals we can say *YES* to.

You don’t have to adopt.
You don’t have to foster forever.
You just have to give one animal a temporary place to land while they wait for their forever.

Pippie—the ultimate Snuffleupagus! 🐾✨

This sweet 3-year-old pup caught a ride from Tennessee up to Wisconsin last weekend and has been stealing hearts ever since. Now that she’s had a chance to decompress after her long journey, her foster family is getting to know her wonderful personality—and so far, she’s proving to be an absolute dream: affectionate, playful, and super snuggly.

The Pippie Quick Facts:
Age: ~3 years old
Weight: ~25 lbs (The perfect size!)
Looks: The most gorgeous curls? She's got 'em!
Breed: We're told cocker spaniel or mix but who knows for sure 🤷‍♀️
Personality: Loves being close, curling up next to you, and resting her head on your lap for scratches.
Manners: House-trained and actively working on perfecting her leash-walking skills for daily strolls.

Social Butterfly Status 🐶🐱
Pippie loves the outdoors and taking walks, but she’s also a big fan of making friends. While she’s currently the only dog in her foster home, she was raised with both dogs and cats! She’s been very intrigued by the resident foster cats (even if they haven't quite shared her enthusiasm for playtime). Her foster family thinks she would do wonderfully with another playful dog in her forever home!

Birdie is a loafy gal with an even bigger heart! She loves being with her people and also enjoys her doggie friends! ❤️

She is about 6-7 years old and still has the personality of a loyal Netflix binge watcher! She is slightly overweight so would benefit from a steady routine, but definitely loves the sofa as her recovery spot 😊

Ever wish you could act like a kid again? Here’s your chance! You might even win some free tickets from this post 🎟️🎟️ 👀

Our friends over at Madison Children's Museum are hosting one of their famous ‘Adult Swim’ events soon — if you’re not familiar, that’s where they kick the kids out of the museum for a night and let the adults run wild. 🏃‍♂️

This event also happens to be dog-themed, which, of course, we love. 🐶

They’ve got some super good stuff planned: A human agility course, “poorly drawn pet portraits,” crafting (bandanas, dog tags, face paint), and a “cat people meetup,“ just to name a few. 🐱

We’ll be there with a table for info on vet services, adoption, fostering, & volunteering — and of course, we’re bringing some adoptable dogs! So come say hi to the pups.
