The days are getting longer and warmer so it must be time to introduce you to our June Campers of the Month, Holly, Mazie and Nellie!
This sweet trio has been gracing our presence for years at Camp. Nellie, the eldest at 10.5 years old, has been coming to daycamp since she was just a pup! Her sister Mazie joined the family about a year after Lil Nell. Ms. Holly was rescued from Louisiana at the end of Covid. Holly’s dad felt he needed his own dog because Mazie and Nellie were very attached to their mom. He saw Holly’s application online and applied without telling his wife! Holly came home one Opening weekend of Deer season and her mom began introducing her to her new siblings. Mazie was less than excited about her and it took about 4 months for her to be integrated into their pack. Now they are all bonded. 🙂
At home the girls have distinct habits: Nellie would love to be carried all day if possible. When Nellie was 8 weeks old, she was a little black dog with brown legs. After her first hair cut at 3 months old she came out a gray dog! As the oldest, she comes to Camp once a month which means she enjoys nice, long days alone without her sisters. Mazie, the leader of the pack, LOVES to watch TV. She will bark at every animal on screen and her family even has to turn off the TV because she watches too much! Mazie is also quite fond of digging holes. Anywhere there is a chipmunk hole, Mazie creates a bigger hole. Good thing mom keeps a bag of top soil on hand! Sweet Holly is the cuddly, gentle one at home. Her only bad habit is barking at those suspicious delivery drivers. All three girls love any type of treat. The word “treats” gets them all running. Holly especially likes “cubbies” when mom fills her water mug each morning. When they are not digging holes, protecting the house from the UPS guy or being carried by their loving family, the girls can be found snuggling on the couch or in mom and dad’s bed.
On Camp days, the girls all have their specific spots on the car ride. Holly rides in a kennel as she needed a controlled environment when first adopted. Alpha dog Mazie gets the prime front seat and Nellie rides on the hump between the seats. They are all excited when arriving at Camp with Mazie and Holly leading the way to the playroom! At Camp, Holly is very playful and especially likes to run around and wrestle with Kona and Howie the corgis and Ollie the shihpoo. Sometimes she can be seen snuggling with her boyfriend Stevie 🙂! Mazie and Nellie are less playful but will wrestle together as well as with Winnie the teddy and Norman the malti-poo. Mazie and Holly also like to patrol for chippers and squirrels in the yard while Nellie watches from a comfy spot. All three girls love snuggling with their Pack leaders as well. Holly is especially fond of giving kisses!
We very much enjoy getting to spend time with this sweet trio. All three may have very different personalities but they are all equally loving. It has been a delight watching them grow and develop into the great doggos they are today. We look forward to many more visits in the future!
