🐱💉 Could Your Cat Be at Risk for Feline Leukemia?
Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) is one of the most serious infectious diseases in cats. It attacks the immune system and can lead to cancer, chronic infections, anemia, and a shortened lifespan. Unfortunately, there is no cure—which makes prevention so important.
FeLV spreads through close contact between cats, including:
🐾 Grooming one another
🥣 Sharing food and water bowls
😺 Bite wounds
💕 From mother cats to their kittens
The FeLV vaccine is recommended for cats that:
✅ Spend time outdoors
✅ Live with an FeLV-positive cat
✅ Live in multi-cat homes, shelters, or foster environments
✅ May come into contact with cats of unknown health or vaccination status
For cats that are strictly indoors with no exposure to other cats (and have tested negative for FeLV), this vaccine may not be necessary. Every cat's lifestyle is different, which is why vaccine recommendations should be tailored to each individual pet.

Did you know?
In Florida, rabies vaccination is legally required for all dogs and cats.
Rabies is a deadly virus that affects the nervous system and can be transmitted to humans through bites from infected animals.
Even indoor pets are at risk if wildlife enters the home (especially bats).
💉 First vaccine: typically around 16 weeks of age
📅 Booster: 1 year later
🔁 Ongoing: 1- or 3-year vaccine depending on the product
