🌴☀️ South Florida Summers = Fun… But Also Risks for Pets! 🐾
We love summer—but the heat, hot pavement, and parasites? Not so much 😬
At Regal Animal Hospital, we see a spike in summer-related issues, and many are preventable! Here’s what to watch for:
🔥 Heat Happens FAST
If your pet is panting heavily, drooling, or acting weak—don’t wait. Heatstroke can become life-threatening quickly.
👉 Keep them safe:
• Water, water, water 💧
• Skip midday walks
• Stick to early mornings or evenings
• NEVER leave pets in the car
🐾 Hot Pavement = Ouch!
If it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws.
Burns from pavement are one of the most common injuries we treat in summer.
🦟 Don’t Forget the Bugs
Fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes are in full force. Stay consistent with prevention and always use vet-approved products.
💡 Quick Reminder:
Flat-faced breeds, seniors, and pets with health issues are especially sensitive to heat.
💙 Bottom line: A little prevention goes a long way toward a safe, happy summer.

🐾 Florida Pets Need Year-Round Flea & Tick Protection! ☀️🌴
In Florida, flea and tick season isn’t just a season — it’s year-round. Our warm, humid climate allows parasites to thrive 365 days a year. 😬
Fleas can cause:
• Intense itching & flea allergy dermatitis
• Tapeworm infections
• Fast home infestations
Ticks can transmit diseases like Ehrlichiosis and Anaplasmosis. While Lyme disease is not considered endemic in Florida, travel and relocating pets can still create potential exposure — which makes prevention and awareness important.
Even indoor pets aren’t completely protected — fleas can hitch a ride inside on clothing or other pets.
The best defense? Consistent, year-round prevention. 💙 It’s safer, easier, and far less costly than treating an infestation or tick-borne illness.
Not sure which product is best for your pet’s lifestyle? We’re happy to help!

Look at this cutie who stopped by to visit while celebrating Cinco de Mayo earlier this month! 💃🎉

We love seeing our patients show off their personalities, and this festive furry friend definitely understood the assignment. ❤️

Whether they're dressed for a holiday, showing off a new bandana, or just being their adorable selves, our patients always brighten our day.

🐾Rabies: Preventable. Fatal. Required.
Protect what matters most. 💉
Rabies is 100% preventable — and 100% fatal once symptoms appear.
Rabies is a zoonotic viral disease, meaning people can contract it if bitten by an infected animal. Wildlife like raccoons, bats, foxes, and skunks are common carriers.
💉 The rabies vaccine is typically given around 16 weeks of age, boosted one year later, and then kept current per state guidelines.
📍 In Florida, rabies vaccination is required by law for all dogs and cats.
Protect your pet. Protect your family. Stay up to date. 🐶🐱

☀️🐾 Summer Pet Safety in South Florida 🐾☀️

Summer in South Florida means more sunshine and outdoor fun—but it also brings real risks for our pets. At Regal Animal Hospital, we see a seasonal increase in heat-related illness, paw burns, and parasite concerns this time of year.

Here’s how you can keep your pet safe:

🔥 Beat the Heat
Pets can’t cool themselves like we do. Watch for:
• Excessive panting or drooling
• Weakness or lethargy
• Vomiting or collapse

Prevention tips:
• Always provide fresh, cool water
• Avoid outdoor activity from 10 AM – 4 PM
• Walk early morning or evening
• Never leave pets in a parked car

🐾 Protect Those Paws
Hot pavement can cause serious burns.
• Walk on grass or shaded areas
• Test pavement with your hand
• Consider protective booties

🦟 Stay Ahead of Summer Risks
• Keep pets on parasite prevention
• Watch for fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes
• Use only vet-recommended products
• Consider pet-safe sunscreen for light-colored pets

💙 A Safe Summer Starts with Prevention
With a little planning, you can avoid many common summer emergencies.
