Keeping your dog healthy includes taking care of their mouth.
The gums=gateway to the bloodstream. The more bacteria your dog has in its mouth, the more likely it is to spread to the heart, kidney, liver and lungs. Worst part is that dogs are so stoic that it takes a lot for them to show pain. 😔😭In cats and toy-breed dogs, severe periodontal disease can lead to a fractured jaw, since the tooth roots are so close to the jawbone edges. Periodontal disease causes inflammation and pain and most pets suffer in silence until the disease is well-established. August is dental month and dentals are $50 off. 🤗 awesome! This little girl is Harley and she is a Mi-Ki. Such a cute little girl.
The Mi-Ki (pronounced Mee-Kee) is a toy breed dog selectively bred for calm companionship, they have an engaging personality.
The breed was introduced in the USA in the late 1980’s. Origin stories vary, but DNA tells us Mi-Kis share common ancestry with several Asian breeds.
Mi-Kis are purebred dogs. They are not hybrid or designer dogs. They have been bred Mi-Ki to Mi-Ki since the late 1980’s. In 2009, the Mi-Ki’s unique, identifying, genetic markers were identified by Mars Veterinary. Weights range from 3 – 10 pounds. The average adult weighs 4 – 8 pounds. Mi-Kis are great companion dogs, happy, loving and sweet. They enjoy excellent health in the purebred lines. Mi-Kis are very intelligent and easy to train. They are happy in condos and apartments. They will use a litter box, piddle pads or will potty outside as you desire. They are hypoallergenic and low to non shedding. Because they are single coated and have hair instead of fur, many people who are allergic to dog hair or dander experience no allergic reaction around Mi-Kis. They love kids, cats and dogs of all sizes. Even so, they won’t mind being the only pet. Their easy going, gentle personalities allow them to be a part of almost any home.

Please, please be mindful of all animals. It is so hot out there!
Brachycephalic dogs, with their short muzzles and flat faces, are particularly vulnerable to heat-related issues like heatstroke. Their inability to efficiently pant, their primary method of cooling down, makes them prone to overheating in warm weather.
