Also known as cane toads, these toxic toads can be dangerous to dogs, cats, and even humans if handled with bare hands.

If your pet licks, bites, or picks one up, symptoms can happen quickly and may become life-threatening without immediate treatment.

It's starting to heat up in South Florida ☀️

Even if it’s not officially summer yet, our pavement can heat up fast. Hot asphalt can burn your pet’s paw pads in just minutes, so before heading out for a walk, try the 7-second rule: place the back of your hand on the pavement for 7 seconds. If it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for them.

Walk early in the morning or later in the evening when possible, stick to grass, and keep an eye out for limping, lifting paws, or signs of discomfort.
