A little scare for sweet Meeko yesterday.

One of our rehab dogs, Meeko, suddenly began vomiting blood and had us all very worried. Thankfully, thanks to a fast-acting volunteer and our amazing veterinary team, he quickly received the care he needed.

We’re happy to report that Meeko seems to be on the mend and is resting comfortably today. 🐾

Moments like these remind us how important it is to have dedicated volunteers, supportive veterinarians, and a community that stands behind senior dogs when they need us most.

Please keep Meeko in your thoughts as he continues to recover. ❤️

💖$5 FRIDAY FOR LILLY BILLY

Less than 24 hours before her scheduled euthanasia at IACS; a shelter in Indianapolis, Indiana, Lilly Billy got her second chance.

➡️Today, she’s enjoying walks in the park, loving her foster mom, and having fun with enrichment toys. She’s truly the best girl!

Lilly sees our vet next week for additional testing, and we’re raising funds to help cover those expenses. She also still has a dog bed and pet gate on her Amazon Wishlist.

If all of our Facebook friends who chipped in just $5 today, it would make a huge difference.

Our hearts are heavy today…

Betty was only with us for 4 days.

She left the shelter and went straight into a loving foster home where she was cherished, held close, spoken kindly to, bathed, wrapped in soft blankets, fed good meals, and reminded over and over that she mattered.

And then we walked her to the Rainbow Bridge.

The realization that we cannot save them all is one of the most heartbreaking parts of rescue. The humans behind this rescue feel that weight deeply. We wish love alone could heal every broken body.

But while we could not give Betty more time, we could give her peace. We could give her dignity. We could make sure her final days were not spent scared and alone in a shelter kennel.

Instead, she left this world knowing comfort, gentleness, and compassion.

And truly… it was our honor to give her that. 🌈🐾

PUPdate on Billy 💙

Billy’s lab results came back today and confirmed he has pancreatitis. The good news is he was already started on treatment based on his symptoms and we are happy to report he already seems to be feeling better!

This sweet boy has been through a lot lately, but we can already see his personality starting to shine through now that he’s getting the care he deserves. Once Billy is feeling his absolute best, we’ll get him scheduled for his dental surgery so he can continue his journey toward finding his furever home.

Thank you to everyone cheering this little guy on and helping us give senior dogs like Billy the second chance they deserve. ❤️🐾

🐾 MAX IS READY FOR HIS FUREVER HOME 🐾

Max is proof that senior dogs still have so much life, love, and joy left to give. At 8 years old, this handsome guy is truly something special. ❤️

He is loving, attentive, and so incredibly well-trained. Max makes eye contact when you talk to him and listens so carefully — like he truly understands every word. He just wants to be near his people and make them happy. Such a GOOD boy. 🥹

Max has already had his dental care completed, is neutered, and is ready to start the next chapter of his life with a family of his own. He would make a fabulous companion for someone looking for a loyal best friend to love.

Sometimes healing doesn’t happen through medicine alone… sometimes it happens through friendship. ❤️🐾

Meeko and Rufus have both been through more than most will ever know, yet somehow they found comfort in each other. No words, no expectations… just two senior souls curled up together, reminding us that even after heartbreak, neglect, illness, and uncertainty, love still finds a way in.

This is one of our favorite parts of rescue — watching scared, tired dogs slowly begin to feel safe again. Watching them rest peacefully. Watching them form little friendships that help heal invisible wounds.

Senior dogs have the purest hearts. 🥹

Thank you for helping us give dogs like Meeko and Rufus a soft place to land, heal, and be loved. 🩷

🐾 It’s $5 Friday for the seniors! 🐾

If you didn’t see earlier this week, we added THREE new senior dogs to Silver Snout Senior Dog Rescue… and today we have ANOTHER one headed our way.

Sweet Betty will be leaving the kill shelter she found herself in as a stray and arriving at our rehab center this afternoon. 💔➡️🏡

So far, all 3 of the first newbies need dental surgeries before they can be adopted. We know those rotten teeth are painful and we want to get these sweet babies feeling better as quickly as possible.

Today, we’re asking our amazing village to each throw us just ONE $5 bill. That’s it. If all 3,000+ followers gave just $5 today, we could get these seniors out of pain immediately AND continue saying yes to more dogs who desperately need us.

Every single dollar truly adds up and changes lives here. 🩷
