On Thursday afternoon the Indianapolis Zoo celebrated Jabari's Second Birthday!

Jabari is the youngest elephant in the herd, so his day was made extra special with some treats.

There's still time to wish Jabari a happy birthday. You can visit him this weekend in the Plains exhibit at the Indianapolis Zoo.

Our Story

Since opening in 1964, the Indianapolis Zoo has emerged as a world-class facility, and it hosts more than a million visitors annually. Located in White River State Park since 1988, the 64-acre Zoo was the first to be triple accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and the American Alliance of Museums as a zoo, an aquarium and a botanic garden. The Zoo is also a global leader in animal conservation and research. Funding from the Indianapolis Zoo also supports the efforts of animal conservation organizations around the globe. At the Zoo, guests can connect with animals and plants within the Zoo’s biomes, or living habitats that closely resemble their native regions of the globe. These five areas — Oceans, Forests, Deserts, Encounters and Plains — are home to more than 1,600 animals of approximately 230 species as well as 31,000 plant specimens that guests can visit year-round. White River Gardens is also part of the Zoo and continues its tradition of connecting animals, plants and people. This beautiful 3.3-acre landmark botanical attraction includes a 5,000 square-foot conservatory and combines the best of gardening ideas, plant information and inspirational design to serve the needs of all visitors.
