We can’t believe handsome Leo hasn’t received a single application since moving into his foster home back in April! With his stunning rust-colored coat, sweet personality, and love for people, Leo is truly a one of a kind pup. ❤️

So, who is Leo? We asked his foster paw-rent to fill us in on everything she has learned about him the last few months!
✨ Personality: Leo is the perfect mix of active and laid-back. He LOVES walks where he can sniff and explore, and nothing makes him happier than chasing a tennis ball. But once the adventure is over, he’s just as content curling up on the couch with you for a good nap or some snuggles.

✨ Daily Life: His foster says a typical day includes walks, playtime, neighborhood visits (he loves saying hi to the neighbors!), following you around the house, and plenty of naps. He’s house trained, enjoys sleeping in bed, and loves to be brushed, held, and scratched.

✨ Special Notes: Leo came to us with a past injury, but with daily meds he’s thriving — running, jumping, and even tackling stairs without issue. Getting him to take his medication is very easy.

✨ Training: He knows sit, lay down, and is learning stay and out. He’s very food- and toy-motivated, which makes him fun to train.

✨ Other Pets & Kids: Leo has met cats and small animals and does fine (though he’s curious!). He’s met children and is social and affectionate with them. Around other dogs, he can be vocal and a bit anxious, so slow introductions or a one-dog home would be best.

We are a first come, first serve facility. Additionally, we will not process an adoption to a person who has not physically met the adoptable animal in person. This means that we always encourage you to come visit the shelter, walk through, meet the adoptable pet that tugs at your heart strings, and fill out an adoption application!

August = 310 ADOPTED ANIMALS!🥳

This month was our second largest adoption month of the year so far, and we are elated! We had 128 dogs and 182 cats find their new homes this month. Thank you so much to those of you who chose adoption this month and for joining the IndyHumane family!❤️

Handsome boy Hans! 😍

He is a BIG boy who has a lot of love to give. At around 11 years old, he has seen a lot of life and is now looking for the right place to settle down for the remainder of his golden years.❤️ Hans has participated in our doggy playgroups, and even still has some playful energy to give. The only pups he hasn't enjoyed playing with so far have been intact males!

Hans doesn't know a stranger, and will give you the cutest "woo-woo" when it's his turn for a walk. If you have a heart for senior pups, German Shepherds, or just good dogs then we hope you'll come meet Hans!

We had an absolute BLAST with the Indianapolis Colts yesterday! Players stopped by to tour our facility, walk some of our adoptable pups, and spend the afternoon handing out belly rubs, treats, and practicing tricks. 🐶

These pups loved the extra attention and playtime before the team’s big game against the Dolphins this weekend! 🏈 Thank you, Colts, for taking time out of your busy schedules to give our dogs a much-deserved break in their day—you made their tails wag nonstop! 💙🤍
