This sweet girl was adopted from us as a puppy (swipe to see her adorable baby pic! 🥺), but life threw her adopter an unexpected curveball, and she was lovingly surrendered back to us.

Now, Whiskey is looking for her new home where she can share her gentle soul, soft eyes, and wagging tail with people who will love her just as much as she’ll love them!

She’s a total sweetheart who enjoys peaceful walks, couch cuddles, and quiet companionship. She also has lots of playful energy and loves spending time with other pups in our Gentle & Dainty playgroup. 🐾

Whiskey has lived with young children and other animals in the past and did wonderfully with both. She’s truly the best of both worlds: affectionate, friendly, playful, and loyal.

Twilight is a beautiful tuxedo girl who is as graceful as her name — quiet, gentle, and full of quiet charm.

Twilight is a little shy at first and will need a patient adopter who understands that trust takes time. She’s said to be good with children, though she'd likely thrive best in a calmer household. As for dogs? She's okay with them, as long as they respect her space and let her warm up at her own pace.

Kitten season has officially arrived and we are starting to get pleas to help.

Far too many kittens die every year when a Good Samaritan takes orphaned kittens away from their mom. Humans simply cannot replicate a mother's care. Mom is their BEST chance of survival. If you find kittens, please follow this flow chart to determine next steps and ensure that they SURVIVE!

If you're looking for a wiggly, happy pup then Leo is your boy! He is a 6‑year‑old terrier/pit bull mix with the most gorgeous rust-colored coat! He's truly a people‑loving sweetheart who knows no strangers, and walks so well on the leash.

With eyes as pretty as hers, it’s hard to believe this quiet beauty is part of our 100 Day Club, a group of long-term shelter residents still waiting for their perfect match.

Baby Girl has had a tough past, and while she may come off as shy or skittish at first, all she needs is patience, a calm environment, and someone who understands that love takes time!

Her foster says it best:
“Baby Girl is adorably curious. It took weeks for her to warm up, but now she gives the slowest of blinks and even allows the occasional pet. She’s obsessed with bird watching, jingly toys, and crinkled paper hiding treats. She doesn’t meow, scratch furniture, or ask for much — she just wants a peaceful home where she can feel safe and loved.”

EDIT: Evie was adopted! ❤️

Meet Evie! 🌟
This brave 6-month-old Cane Corso was found injured, weak, and alone on a porch with no microchip, and no previous history. Thanks to our incredible medical team, Evie has spent the last few weeks healing from her amputation and learning how to be a happy, healthy puppy again.

Now? She’s ready to run (okay, wobble-run 😉), play fetch, sniff out snacks, and most importantly find a new home to settle into.

Summer at IndyHumane isn’t just fun, it makes an impact long after the summer is over! ☀️ Our Summer Camp and Volunteer Manager, Sara (who happens to love manatees), recently chatted with one of our most passionate campers, Alex, about all his favorite camp memories. From painting ceiling tiles to bonding with shelter pets, Alex knows firsthand how special IndyHumane Camp really is!

Last weekend, we had the most amazing group of IndyHumane supporters show up and show out for our Day of Service! After we had to cancel Mutt Strut due to weather, we invited the community to come lend a hand and wow, did you all deliver.

One of the biggest projects tackled? MULCHING OUR TRAILS! These trails are so important for giving our dogs the enrichment they need every day, but fallen limbs and muddy spots make it hard. Thanks to you, our pups can strut their stuff in comfort again!

A special shoutout goes to Scott, who stopped by just to donate a doggy door—but ended up staying for two hours helping us clear debris! As someone who works in tree service, his unexpected help was exactly what we needed. Talk about perfect timing! 🌳

Our amazing partners at have been hitting the pavement with some of our adoptable pups as part of IndyHumane’s Dog Day Out program! They made this amazing video highlighting their latest buddy: OLAF!

Olaf is a 2-year-old Mastiff mix with a big heart and an even bigger love for playtime. Whether he’s hanging with other dogs or soaking up attention from kids, Olaf is always ready for a good time and some pets.

Thanks to Bone Dry Roofing's ongoing commitment to animal welfare, Olaf got to enjoy a special day out to stretch his legs, build confidence, and soak up the love outside of the shelter.

Meet Alex: IndyHumane Summer Camp’s #1 fan! ☀️🐾 He’s spending the whole summer with us, and if anyone can tell you how awesome our camp is, it’s this guy right here. In this photo, Alex is posing with one of our famous ceiling tiles that are painted by campers just like him! Every year, each camper paints a ceiling tile that gets proudly displayed in our shelter to spread joy and color to the space. 🎨

Our campers LOVE coming back year after year to find their tile and make new memories, and we love watching them grow into the next generation of animal advocates!
