Aroha in her 🌈 colourful & comfortable PJ’s for her nail trim & wound suture. Poor girl had a small laceration on top of her paw, that required some attention.

She was incredibly brave and such a grey-t patent during her short stay with us on Saturday morning 😍♥️

Time for the annual PSA about ducklings 🦆

1. Don't chase ducklings.
We don't send our big scary rangers screaming and chasing children. In return for our generosity, we'd appreciate you stopping your big scary children from chasing ducklings!

2. Don't get too close to take photos.
Cute, fluffy and insta worthy they absolutely are, but give them some space and utilise that fancy schmancy zoom function we know you have. If you're very lucky they might even come to you!

3. Please don't touch or pick up ducklings.
We know this often comes from a place of love but if you're concerned about a duckling then please let the Visitor Centre team know and we'll send a ranger to investigate. Even if you don't see her, the mother is likely nearby but if you bring us the duckling then it is almost impossible for us to return it to the right place or parent.

The beautiful Botz & her new adventure!

This week, our 👩🏻‍⚕️ Dr Grace had the pleasure of completing Botz’s pre-Australian export checkup. She was an absolute 💕 delight!

Botz was rescued as a puppy from Israel, before she moved with her family to New Zealand. For the last 12 years, she has called New Zealand home 🏡 but now she is joining her family in Canberra, Australia.

Luckily, Botz is in the caring and experienced hands of Star Pet Travel. Safest travels Botz!

Frankie’s Luxating Patella Repair 🛠️

Poor Frankie was struggling with a luxating patella – this means his kneecap was slipping in and out of place, which can be 🥺 painful and make walking really difficult. Poor wee man!

👨🏻‍⚕️ Dr Jameson performed his stabilisation surgery by deepening the groove in the bone and placing a small pin to help hold the kneecap where it belongs.

Because French Bulldogs require extra support and monitoring (due to their Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome (BOAS)), Frankie was recovered in our treatment room cage by and watched closely by our team.

To keep him warm and comfortable 💕 after his anaesthetic, we tucked him under our heavenly Bair Hugger – a special warming blanket that circulates warm air to maintain a safe body temperature.

We’re so pleased to share that after his surgery a few months back, Frankie has now made a full recovery and is back to running around, happy and pain-free! 👏🏽♥️
