Exciting News 🔬 ✨

We have a new addition to our in-house diagnostic laboratory, adding the Skyla AI Multifunctional Morphological Analyzer 👏🏽

This advanced AI-powered analyser allows our vets to examine blood, urine, and 💩 faecal samples in incredible detail.

Meaning, it helps them to detect 🔍 infections, inflammation, parasites, crystals, bacteria, and abnormal blood cell changes more efficiently.

Using advanced digital microscopy and AI technology, the VM100 automatically analyses samples that would traditionally require manual 🔬 microscope assessment = helping support quicker diagnostics and treatment decisions for our patients.

We are over the 🌙 moon to have another tool in our diagnostic tool belt, helping us provide faster, smarter insights into your pet’s health.

Poor Romeo the Husky had quite the adventure this long 👑 King’s Birthday weekend - and not the kind anyone wants!

After becoming quite unwell, it was discovered that Romeo had developed an intestinal blockage from 🪾sticks he had chewed and swallowed. This meant an urgent exploratory surgery was needed today.

We were incredibly fortunate to have Dr Jameson in the clinic today, discharging his hospitalised patient 🐱 and catching up on clinical notes after a very busy Friday. When Romeo needed urgent surgery, Dr Jameson was able to scrub in, allowing Dr Grace to focus on her fully booked consult day 🙌🏼

Meanwhile, our two amazing vet nurses juggled reception, hospital patients, and Romeo’s emergency surgery like the superstars they are ✨

Talk about team work! 👏🏽

A huge thank you to our wonderful clients for your kindness, patience and understanding while we managed an unexpected 🚨 emergency.

The good news? Romeo is now back at 🏡 home this long weekend, and on the road to feeling like himself again 💕

Why is cytology so important? 🔬

Cytology is the study of cells - by taking a small sample (often with a fine needle or a simple swab) and our vet examining it under the 🔬 microscope.

What can we learn? 💭🤔

Helps us assess lumps and bumps: is it fatty, inflammatory, or something more concerning.

Identifies infections: bacteria, yeast, or parasites such as ear infections or skin infections.

Distinguishes inflammation vs infection: which affects our vet’s treatment plan!

The best part? It’s quick, minimally invasive, and often done during the 👩🏻‍⚕️ consult - meaning we can start the right treatment sooner, rather than guessing.

Not every case leads to a final diagnosis, but it helps guide us and decide whether further 🧪 testing (like a biopsy) is needed.

Sometimes, a tiny sample can make a big difference in your pet’s care 👏🏽

Behind every safe general anaesthetic is careful, continuous monitoring 🩺✨

Our vet nurses use advanced equipment like capnographs, manometers, blood pressure monitors, and pulse oximeters during all our procedures - from routines to emergencies.

These monitoring devices play a vital role in keeping our patients safe under general anaesthetic.

• Capnographs measure CO₂ levels in every breath, helping us monitor ventilation in real time.

• Pulse oximeters track oxygen saturation and heart rate, helping ensure tissues are receiving enough oxygen and the 🫀 heart is beating at a safe, stable rate.

• Manometers help us monitor and control airway pressure for safe, effective breathing support.

• Blood pressure monitors measure the force of blood flow through the arteries, helping us ensure adequate circulation and organ perfusion throughout anaesthesia.

Together, these tools are used by our experienced and qualified 👩🏼‍⚕️ vet nurses to help keep every patient as safe as possible throughout their procedure 👏🏽

How beautiful is Dolly, the Blue Point Ragdoll kitten? This gorgeous girl was paw-some for her spey procedure & microchip.

She was so brave, so calm, and so full of 💕 kitten charm - we were absolutely smitten with Dolly, during her recent stay with us!
