Reception desk duties after your first vaccination! 💉🐶

This gorgeous Caucasian Shepherd cross puppy was the definition of chilled after his first vaccination with us! 🥰 He made himself right at home on our reception desk, soaking up all the fuss, cuddles and attention from the team. 🐾

We think he’s already mastered the art of a vet visit! 😍

🎆✨FIREWORK SEASON COUNTDOWN - Less than 1 week to go until fireworks may start!✨🎆

Firework season is nearly here! Now is the time to make sure your home and your pets are ready🐾

Fireworks can often start around Halloween so make sure you are prepared early.
🌙 Walk earlier - Continue to walk your dog during daylight and bring all pets indoors before it gets dark and fireworks are likely to begin.
🪟 Close curtains before dark - Draw the curtains before the first fireworks start and put the TV or radio on to help muffle outside noises.
🏠 Have their safe space ready - Make sure their den is comfortable, familiar and ready to use.
🔒 Secure your home -
Before fireworks are likely to start:
• Close and secure windows
• Close doors
• Secure cat flaps
• Check your garden is secure
This reduces the risk of a frightened pet bolting and escaping.
👨‍👩‍👧 Don't leave nervous pets alone - If your pet is particularly worried by fireworks, having familiar people around can help them feel safer.
❤️ Let your pet choose - Your pet may want to hide, or they may want to stay close to you. Let them choose what makes them feel safest.

🤍 A little note about collecting your pet’s ashes 🤍

We understand that saying goodbye to a much-loved pet is incredibly difficult, and we want to make every step of this journey as gentle as possible. 🐾

When your pet’s ashes return to us from the crematorium, our lovely reception team will call you to let you know.
When you feel ready to collect them, we will carefully place them in one of our paper bags for you to take home, so that you can open it in your own time, in a place where you feel comfortable and whenever you feel ready 🤍

Every pet leaves pawprints on our hearts, and we feel privileged to have cared for them and to support you during such a difficult time🐾

LESS THAN 2 WEEKS TO GO - PRACTISE YOUR FIREWORK ROUTINE 🎃💥

With firework season getting closer, now is a great time to practise what you’ll do on the night🐾

Exercise during daylight🐕
A good walk and play session earlier in the day can help your dog settle later. Avoid waiting until it’s dark when fireworks may already be starting.

Feed earlier🍽️
A good meal before fireworks begin can help your dog feel content and settled. Try to keep mealtimes as consistent as possible.

Practise the den🏠
Encourage your pet to relax in their safe space while the house is calm. Let them come and go as they please so it becomes a familiar, positive place.

Create a calm environment📺
When fireworks are expected:
• Close the curtains
• Use the TV or radio as background noise
• Keep doors and windows closed
• Keep your pets indoors

For cats🐱
If your cat will be staying indoors, consider providing extra litter trays so they have easy access to the toilet without needing to go outside.

Never take your dog to a fireworks display🚫
The noise, flashes and crowds can be overwhelming and frightening.

The more familiar your routine is before firework night, the better prepared you and your pet will be. Fireworks often start before the 5th of November and can even happen over Halloween so it is better to be prepared early 🐾
