Keep tails wagging and whiskers happy ☀️🐾

Hot weather can be dangerous for pets, so a few simple steps can make a big difference:
💧 Keep fresh water available at all times
🌳 Stick to shady walks at cooler times of the day and avoid hot pavements
🏠 Make sure they have cool, ventilated spaces indoors
🧊 Try cooling mats for them to lay on for extra comfort
🚗 Never leave pets in a parked car - even for a minute

If they seem overly tired, are panting heavily, or acting unusual, contact your vet right away.
As always, we are here for you and your pets 24/7, 365 days a year - 📞01749 343 955

🎉🐾 A huge congratulations to our wonderful small animal vet, Sarah, on an incredible 25 years at Shepton Vets! 🐾🎉

Sarah is one of our longest-serving team members and truly at the heart of our practice. Known affectionately within the team as “the oracle”, her wisdom, knowledge, and experience are simply unmatched. 🩺

An ever-calming presence, Sarah is not only an exceptional vet but also a fantastic mentor to us all - and a firm favourite with our clients and patients alike.

While Sarah has an interest in all areas of small animal practice, she is especially passionate about all things feline 🐱 and also provides acupuncture treatments, helping many of our older patients manage chronic pain and enjoy a better quality of life.

Thank you, Sarah, for 25 years of dedication, compassion, and care. We are so lucky to have you as part of the Shepton Vets family! 💜

More future vets in the making!🩺✨

Rhian recently visited Reception Class at Hazlegrove School, joined by Ron Weasley the dachshund and Debbie the Bantam hen for a hands-on vet talk all about animal care.
The children learned how to carry out a clinical exam, practised gentle handling, and even brought their own soft toy animals to practice bandaging like true professionals! 🩹🐾

Ron and Debbie were stars of the show and helped make the session a fun and memorable experience for everyone involved. 🐔🐶

Some eye injuries heal quickly. Others test everyone’s patience. 👀❤️‍🩹

Fudge, a lovable French Bulldog with a huge personality, came to us after a bramble-filled adventure left her with painful corneal ulcers in both eyes. What initially seemed like a routine case became a two-month journey of intensive treatment, repeated procedures, specialist advice and incredible dedication from her owners.

Despite the discomfort and countless rechecks, Fudge became the perfect patient - winning hearts across the practice with her resilience, character and love of treats. 🐾

Meet Jackson the German Shepherd puppy🐕‍🦺

He recently visited nurse Cara for a Weigh & Worm appointment. These visits are great socialisation opportunities for new puppies, offering them positive and fun experiences at the vets from an early age - helping to build confidence for future visits.🐾

When Maisie started unproductively retching after an otherwise normal morning, her owners knew something wasn’t right - and acting quickly made all the difference.🐾

Our team rapidly diagnosed a life-threatening GDV (gastric dilatation and volvulus) and, within less than two hours of arriving at the practice, Maisie had undergone emergency surgery and was recovering comfortably in her bed.

This case is a powerful reminder of how quickly GDV can develop, the signs to watch for, and why urgent veterinary attention is so important. We’re incredibly proud of the teamwork that helped Maisie make such a remarkable recovery 💜
