Bexhill are you ready for some puppy cuteness?

I met Gus and his lovely owners today for puppy 1-2-1.

We discussed sleep, toilet training, lead walking and recall.

Made great progress with his lead walking already
can’t wait to see him next week ☺️

*Don’t let your puppy’s first groom become an experience they dread!*

Waiting until your puppy needs a haircut could mean their first visit involves lots of unfamiliar experiences all at once.

Being brushed, having their paws handled, standing on a grooming table and hearing the dryer. That’s a lot for a young puppy to take in!

Starting early gives us the chance to introduce grooming gradually, before there’s any pressure to complete a full groom.

Here’s why it’s so important:

🐾 1. Build their confidence

Getting used to brushing, having their paws touched and being handled helps puppies become more comfortable with the grooming process.

✂️ 2. Make future grooms less overwhelming

By introducing grooming activities a little at a time, puppies can learn what to expect rather than having everything thrown at them during their first full groom.

❤️ 3. Create positive associations

We want puppies to grow up seeing grooming as a normal part of life. Calm, gentle and rewarding experiences help build trust and make future visits more enjoyable.

Remember, puppy grooming isn’t about achieving the perfect haircut. It’s about preparing them for a lifetime of coat care.

Don’t wait until their coat gets matted to book their first introduction!

Puppies are learning about the world during their early months, so now is the ideal time to start building positive grooming experiences.

Message me today to ask about puppy grooming packages. Let’s give your puppy the best possible start before a full groom becomes necessary!

On Sunday, the clocks are going back.
An extra hour in bed?
Not, if you have a Spaniel!

Spaniels aren't particularly interested in what the clocks say.
Breakfast is breakfast time.
Walkies are walkies time,
and neither is necessarily up for negotiation!

But jokes aside, the clocks going back can mean a little adjustment for our dogs too.

Dogs are creatures of habit and their internal body clocks don't automatically change just because we have moved the hands on the clock.

Most of us, will probably be doing the evening walk when it is dark so it might be worth investing in some reflective clothing for yourself and one of those light up collars for your dog.

I am not a big fan of walking in the dark.
It can be scary, this time of year.
Dogs can be sensitive in the dark and there is a added worry of some idiot letting off fireworks.

There shouldn't be pressure to rush home and walk our dogs.

So how about skip the walk and tire your spaniel out at home.

Spaniels love opportunities to use their noses.
Try hiding treats or toy around the house or scattering their dinner in the garden.

15 minutes mental stimulation is equivalent to 1 hour's physical exercise.
So why stress yourself over a walk.

Every spaniel is different and sometimes a little individual support can make all the difference.

If you are finding that your spaniel is struggling with certain things such as easily distracted, struggle to settle and get overexcited, a 1-2-1 session could be a great place to start.

Feel free to message me to book.

Your spaniel might not give you that extra hour in bed, but you can certainly give them something worthwhile to do with their day!

*Attention all frustrated Spaniel and spaniel cross owners*

Are you strong enough to walk your Spaniel?
Does your spaniel pull like a steam train?
Are your getting fed up of your spaniel jumping on visitors?

I have successfully helped many frustrated spaniel owners like yourself. They are different to other dogs as the general dog training advice does not work for them.

I understand what they need and how to get laser focus so that you can proudly take them to the park.

Want to feel more confident and in control of your spaniel?

I have 2 classes that will help, depends on your puppy’s age, next intake is 2nd November 2026.
🐶 my popular Award winning ‘tame your teenage troublemaker’ 5 week bootcamp/classes, Specifically tailored for Spaniels and Spaniel crosses that are over the age of 6 months.

🐶 my ‘Tame your problem puppy’ 5 week classes which gives owners and puppies a positive experience to training.
For puppies under 6 months.

I have Limited spaces, message me to apply today.

Feel free to ask any questions.

One of things that really pi**es me off, is dogs running up to Finn and Rose at the park with no recall.

I can count on one hand, how many times it happens in a week and that's too many for my liking.
It's dangerous, not as dangerous as climbing into a tiger enclosure.
But still.

Finn could be aggressive for all they know.
Thankfully he is not.
Although, he is not a fan of other dogs sniffing his bottom and putting their paw on his back.

I don't blame him.
Would you?
If I have just meet you and I started sniffing your bum.
You wouldn't be too impressed either.

Our dogs shouldn't have to experience this.
I see it all the time, dogs running up to every other dogs and completely ignoring their name being called by owner.
In the process, causing complete chaos.

I say it all the time, if your dog has no recall then the only way is a long line lead.

I know it's annoying.
But this will keep your dog safe and stop them causing trouble.

It will give your dog the chance to explore and practice responding to you at a distance. while they cannot ignore your command or run away.

Having a reliable recall will keep your dog safe.

If you want to go from zero recall to reliable recall then either book 1-2-1 session or sign up for my teen class which start again in November

2 spaces left for evening teen class.
