Our Oncology team is growing! 🎉

We’re excited to welcome Dr. Gabrielle (Gabby) Paul-McKenzie, Board-Certified Veterinary Oncologist, to our team.

Dr. Paul-McKenzie joins our established Oncology service as our second oncologist, alongside an expanded team of veterinary technologists and support staff.

This growth allows us to increase our capacity to support more pets and families navigating a cancer diagnosis, while continuing to provide the compassionate, specialized care our Oncology team is known for.

October is RVT Month! 💚🐾

Behind every patient at Boreal is an incredible team, and our Registered Veterinary Technologists are an essential part of the care we provide every day.

From emergency and critical care to specialty medicine, patient monitoring and everything in between, our RVTs bring an incredible amount of skill, knowledge, compassion and dedication to their work.

This month, we're celebrating the RVTs who advocate for their patients, support our veterinary teams, comfort families and help keep Boreal moving around the clock.

To all of our amazing RVTs: thank you for everything you do. We couldn't do it without you! 💚

Today, Boreal Veterinary Centre recognizes the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. 🧡

We honour the children who never returned home, the Survivors of residential schools, and their families and communities.

We encourage our team and community to take time today to listen, learn, reflect, and recognize the ongoing journey toward reconciliation.

Heading into the last long weekend of summer! 🍂

Please be prepared for increased volumes and potentially extensive wait times at Boreal Veterinary Centre. This is one of our busiest times of the year.

We operate on a triage basis, with our sickest patients seen first. Our team is working as efficiently as possible to care for every patient who comes through our doors, but wait times can be unpredictable.

📞 Please call ahead before coming to the hospital for the most up-to-date information.

Today, we remember all the beloved pets who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge, the companions who filled our homes with joy, left paw prints on our hearts, and became part of our families.

Working in emergency and specialty veterinary medicine means we are often entrusted with caring for pets and their families during some of their most difficult moments. At Boreal, we pride ourselves on providing a compassionate and supportive environment, helping families feel cared for as they navigate difficult decisions, saying goodbye, and the grief that follows.

Our oncology team is incredibly thankful, humbled, and honored to be recognized with the Trupanion Veterinary Team of the Year Award. ❤️

This team brings so much compassion, dedication, and heart to every patient and family they care for. They don’t just provide cancer care — they build deep, lasting relationships with their patients, supporting them through chemotherapy, celebrating the good days, and holding their paws through the hardest moments at end of life.

They proudly serve pets and families across northern Alberta and beyond, making a difference every single day through their kindness and expertise.
