This week, we received our first tick of the seasonāfound crawling on one of our dog patients. While this little hitchhiker hadnāt yet attached, itās a strong reminder that tick season is here, and itās time to be vigilant.
Weāll be sending this tick in for Lyme disease testing, as Lyme and other tick-borne illnesses can be transmitted to dogs and humans alike. Early detection helps us better protect your petsā health.
š What Can You Do?
āļø Perform daily tick checks, especially after your dog has been outsideādonāt forget behind the ears, between the toes, under the collar, and along the belly.
āļø Be aware of high-risk areas: wooded trails, tall grass, brushy areas, and leaf litter are all common tick habitats.
