WAIT! There are ticks, fleas, tapeworms, roundworms, all the worms! BUT - fear not, we've got you covered!!

There are too many risks for our pets in the warm months when there is a simple solution: prevention.

You may have received the email of parasite prevention regarding both internal and external parasites a couple of weeks ago - the importance of parasite prevention is just as important, if not more important as maintenance or treatment care.

Both internal and external parasites pose a huge health risk to our pets. For example, a tick carrying a very fatal disease - Lyme disease - can transfer to your pet after just 24 hours. Intestinal parasites, such as roundworm (often can be undetected until the symptoms are severe), produce eggs inside your pet, and require a dewormer for removal. Sometimes different parasites need different treatments, sometimes intensive and expensive treatments. Many parasites are life-threatening, and can be undetected for several weeks. That being said, it is so essential to up-keep on prevention!

The best part about preventative care is that the maintenance is as simple as giving your dog a treat - literally! We offer treatments such as Simparica, an oral chew that you give one time, that lasts for 30 days.

A little bit about Dr. Andrews;

Dr. Andrews graduated in 2009 from the Louisiana State
University School of Veterinary Medicine. She worked several
years in emergency veterinary medicine but especially enjoys
working at general practice as it offers her the opportunity to
know her patients and their families better. While she has
practiced in the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, and Maryland she
is excited to start the next chapter of her career helping the pets
in Edmonton, AB.

He has been a staple at the clinic over the last 14 years. He was loved by us all and on Thursday we all said our final goodbye. He loved being there, sitting in his inbox, asking you all for treats at the desk. We will miss you Frank. Rest easy sweet boy. 💕🐾
