With warmer winters the past couple of years, giving year-round flea and tick prevention is now being recommended, but how does heartworm prevention come into this? Here at Animal Hospital on Bell Farm Road, we most frequently prescribe Nexgard products for prevention. 🩺

For dogs, regular Nexgard can be given from December through May to protect from fleas and ticks. Once heartworm season starts in June, you can switch them to Nexgard Spectra to protect from all of the above and more. 🐾

For cats, Nexgard Combo is available, which protects from fleas, ticks, heartworm, ear mites, and some other internal parasites. Even indoor cats are at risk of carrying parasites as insects can come in through openings to your home or by getting tracked in from humans or other pets. 🐈‍⬛

This week will have some modified hours. Please plan accordingly. We will be closed from 1:00pm to 2:30pm on Wednesday, April 16th for staff training. 🩺

We are also closing for Easter weekend. We’ll be closed on both Friday, April 18th and Saturday, April 19th. Our regular hours will resume on Monday, April 21st at 9:00am. We hope you have a great long weekend! 🐇

We will be closing early on Wednesday, April 9th so Dr Singh can attend a continuing education lecture. Our hours will be 9am-4pm that day. 📚

On Friday, April 11th, we will also be closing early for staff training. Our hours that day will be 9am-1pm. 🩺

What does a 4Dx blood test screen for?

🧪 Heartworm - spread by mosquitoes
🩺 Lyme Disease - spread by ticks
🩸 Anaplasmosis - spread by ticks
💉 Erlichiosis - spread by ticks

We recommend doing an annual 4Dx test on your dog to make sure they test negative for all of the above. The earlier these illnesses are caught, the easier they are to treat!

Tricks Club and Scent Club at The Dog Training Studio are so much fun, but we also pride ourselves on the quality experience we provide to our students. 👩‍🏫

One of The Dog Training Studio’s unique offerings are group classes with flexible attendance. When you sign up for a 6 week class, you have an 8 week period to complete it. This means if life gets busy and you have to miss a week, you can make it up. 🎒
