A Little Brown from has tested positive for after the creature was submitted for testing on Wednesday, July 24, as part of an investigation into a potential human exposure.
The person involved is receiving post-exposure treatment, which will prevent a rabies infection.
This animal rabies case is the first in Grey Bruce this year. We're advising the public to remain vigilant about the risk of rabies:

Always refrain from touching, petting, or handling

Avoid approaching or feeding wild animals.

Keep pets away from wild animals and do not let roam unsupervised; and have your pets vaccinated for rabies

Wildlife-proof homes, , and yards.
β
Do not disturb baby animals.
β
Warn children to stay away from wild or stray animals.
β
Do not trap and transport wild animals to a new location.
