People often ask us how we manage to have bulls coming along all the time.

It’s pretty simple.

We generally have 3–5 mobs of cows running on separate lease blocks at any one time. Rather than joining everything in the same month, we stagger our joining months.

This spreads the workload out instead of having everything hit at once, while putting us in a position to have 10–30 new bulls coming along every 2–4 months.

That means we always have bulls at different ages and stages of development, giving our clients something suitable to choose from no matter what time of year they’re looking.

🐴 How do we breed a quiet, competitive all-rounder that performs, consistently?

It took a lot of trial and error, but we always knew what we wanted — a well balanced, athletic horse that could travel well but still had the body type to handle hard stops and turns. Sensitive enough to train easily, competitive, but with an easy-going nature that makes them enjoyable to ride and simple to handle.

We started with our older style competitive stockhorses and crossed them with more modern cow horse lines over the years. Slowly we bred a consistent line of mares carrying the best attributes of both breeds, with none of the faults.

Not every mare made the cut. We were hard on what we kept in the program — but it’s paid off.

The result is a line of heifers that are low maintenance, productive and built to last — putting more calves on the ground and more kilos at weaning.
