INDONESIA - PART 2 THE BOIGA "CAT EYED SNAKE"

Back in Indonesia - The Boiga, commonly known as the cat-eyed snake, is a beautiful nocturnal snake found across Southeast Asia, including Indonesia. It gets its name from its large eyes with vertical pupils, which help it hunt at night. These snakes are usually slender, agile climbers and are often found in trees, forests, gardens and sometimes around homes.

Most Boiga species are mildly venomous rear-fanged snakes, but they are generally not considered dangerous to humans. They play an important role in the ecosystem by controlling small animals such as lizards, frogs, birds and rodents. Like many snakes, they are best admired from a safe distance and left alone. A big thank you to and for teaching me about snakes.

Lowland copperheads thrive in winter conditions.

In the cold weather, they’re often found trying to absorb sunlight where it can be found.
They’re often laying still but if frightened, they will elect to flee given the opportunity.

The variations in colour for these snakes is incredible often in Victoria ranging from orange, red, black and variations and combinations of these colours.

Despite these snakes being shy and reclusive, they are extremely venomous so be sure to stay away from them.

Most of the time, the copperheads will avoid you before you even notice them.

Lowland copperhead snakes grow up to about 1m for females, and up to 1.5 metres for males.
They love wet habitats - swamps, creeks, drains, marshes, damp paddocks and wet grassland are classic copperhead country.

• Females are live-bearing, meaning they give birth to live young rather than laying eggs.
AND can produce large litters, and the babies are venomous from birth.

Lowland copperheads are a favourite for me to catch as they are a super lovely snakes that keeps to themselves and never wants to harm a single human.

THAT’S A GREAT SHOT (PHOTO) – PUN INTENDED

I featured in the latest Australian Shooter magazine talking about keeping Australian hunters safe from snakes and dispelling the myths about snakes.

I’ve been a proud educator of Australian shooters and hunters for over 10 years teaching them about snakes and snake safety.

Check out the latest Australian Shooter magazine for the article!

SNAKES HAVE COME BACK OUT TO PLAY!!!
Well I said the snake season was over and today and yesterday they were everywhere!!!

I found this tiger snake in a chicken coop in Cottles Bridge. I also found multiple snakes around town. The phone was very busy. So if you thought you were safe from snakes, its not true. Theyre back in our homes for the next few warm days.

AUSSIE BEER FOR THE AUSSIE TIGER SNAKE
So in a beer brewery, this Australian tiger snake wanted a long cold beer after a hard warm day's work.

The brewery staff noticed the oversized snake and calling out The Snake Hunter, I found the snake and took it outside to go back to the wild... if if the snake was stumbling just a little. :)

SNAKE IN BEDROOM WARDROBE

When David decided to work from home in Ivanhoe today, he never expected that while walking through his hallway yo see a tiger snake half out from under his bedroom door.

On being discovered, the world's 5th most venomous snake retreated backward inside. Calling me out, I found the 1 metre long snake hiding under the shoe rack which has now been taken to safety.

When asked how long the snake could have been inside the home, I reassured the home owner: "anywhere from days to weeks as they hide and you can't see them"
