As you may have seen in the media the highly pathogenic H5 Bird Flu has now been detected in Australia.

Transfer to humans is possible, but the risk is low. H5 Bird Flu can spread to other mammals so it is important that you keep cats and dogs safe. Keeping dogs on leads and cats indoors will minimise their exposure to wildlife.

If you find a sick or dead bird the following is what you need to do:

1. Do NOT bring sick or deceased birds to our clinic.

2. AVOID contact, RECORD what you see and REPORT to the Emergency Disease Hotline on 1800 675 888
